Oh how frightening. You're still far more likely to die from a fentynol overdose, a drunk driver or medical malpractice.
Did you quote the wrong meme? That kid saved himself from 2 felons with evil intent by being trained in the responsible use of a firearm.
We don't want to focus on mental health too much. If people begin to determine/ discover that a very small % of people own most of the money extant , that legislators are bought by corporations including the NRA and always vote for their interests and not for the common citizen, they might just----they might---awwww-they won't do shit. Buy more guns. Buy more guns now.
https://americangunfacts.com/gun-ownership-statistics/ There were nearly 40 million guns purchased legally by Americans in 2020 alone according to FBI records. This was higher than any other year on record so far. 2019 was the second highest year with a little over 28 million firearms purchased. This means that firearms purchases jumped by nearly 40%. These numbers are calculated from the NICS Firearm Background Check program. These number might be lower than actual sales as various state laws and purchasing scenarios might not require a background check.
Used to…and hunted and carried a handgun for work in the woods; but the issue today is about guns specifically to kill human beings and lots of them. Anywhere else in the world, the NRA and fellow travelers would be shunned as extremists and dangerous. Legitimate Gus ownership doesn’t make a few companies rich and pose a huge risk of indiscriminate killing.
So we are to fear gun owners. Don't do anything to upset them as then they may kill us with their guns? Is that it? Nice way to live. Buy back programs should be used in conjunction with other strategies, not on their own. Along with buy back programs, assault style weapons should be made illegal to manufacture, buy and sell, and own.And I could list other things such as stopping the glorification of weapons.. Not everyone ever does anything. Not everyone obeys the speed limit, but we still have speed limits. There are many illegal activities that people still do. In fact I would guess that no law is obeyed by everyone, especially drug traffickers and terrorists, so using your logic all laws should be done away with. You can take from them the same way we took machine guns from them.
What are you saying can't be infringed upon, gun rights? I hate to tell you this but no one in this country had a right to own a gun until the 2008 Supreme Court ruling District of Columbia v. Heller. Prior to that the 2nd was interpreted to apply only to well regulated militias, not individuals. In addition there are already laws that "infringe" on your right to own any type of gun that you want...but you know that. Now on to Eli Whitney. Apparently the cotton gin was a bad example as it didn't decrease the need for labor, it increased the need thus the need for more slaves. So let me abandon that analogy and use this one. So let's talk machine guns as you have shown a musket or single shot black powered rifle and an AR15 to illustrate that as technology changes you can't possibly loose and "rights". As the technology of a machine gun makes it highly dangerous and effective at killing many people in a short amount of time as compared to a musket or single shot black powered rifle or even an AR15, machine guns are highly restricted and your "right" to own one is also very highly restricted. Why? Because of the technology.
Responsible and law abiding doesn't involve picking and choosing. Fortunately my country's constitution guarantees me certain rights, and they're not going away.
Yes both get used irresponsibly at times. The difference between a car and a gun is the primary function and the ease of acting irresponsibly and the difference in the results of that irresponsibility.
I'm sure you are. But then you post a picture insinuating that if a law is passed requiring you to give up a weapon, like the law that was passed to limit machine guns, you would go to war with someone. Who?
