I never understood it. I can see using a shotgun for target or skeet as a sport, or rifle for target competition, but amassing a collection of guns is just dumfounding. It seems once someone buys a gun "for protection" it's starts a chain reaction where they have to get another, and another.... God save us.
Another person who nails it. My parents were from Missouri, and hence pretty conservative. They didn’t fear blacks, or other minorities. They just thought they were dumb. My parents never felt that “others” were going to take their jobs. IMO, whites like to complain about minorities lack of personal responsibility when in reality it’s their own lack of personal responsibility which creates a fear of people who don’t look like they do. It didn’t use to be this way, but then trump came along. White person’s insecurity.
Trump ramped it up but he didn't start it... It was taking a strong foothold during the Obama administration because of the "how dare a white country elect a Black president" rhetoric going on...
Correct 14 officers took part in a rolling search involving 11 cars. Of the 14 agents involved in the search, 8 participated in the gun battle. Thanks for the correction.
Exactly. Along with the NRA and Republicans they are pushing fear and divisiveness. And the only solution? Arm up, get ready to kill.
They've probably sold a year's worth of AR's in the last two weeks.. "Oh, they're coming for our guns....."

The NRA and its lap dog Jim Jordan claims it would be unconstitutional to raise the age for gun purchasing and ownership to 21. Why is that? Hawaii, Conn., Ill., and Del. adopted legislation doing that, and several states including Texas distinguish between handguns and long guns in restricting the former to 21, while allowing th latter to be b-be purchased at 18. In Texas and all other the legal age for alcoholic beer purchase is 21. The recent Texas shooter legally bought an assault rifle and 30 rounds of ammo, but couldn't legally buy a beer.Beer hasn't killed nearly as many people as guns. Here in Oklahoma, the legislature banned the sale of 3.2% beer to males under the age of 21 but allowed females over the age of 18 to purchase it. After SCOTUS struck that down (Craig v. Boren) , the legislature did the natural Okie thing and raise the age for females to 21.How are guns different? Sure 18 year olds can vote and do military service, but most don't do either. The Second Amendment is silent on the issue. Of course, the Second Amendment, unlike the right to buy alcohol, is an enumerated right. , The conservative 4th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in a 2-1 ruling by a 3-judge panel, overturned a lower court ruling upholding the law. It's quite probable that the .present Supreme Court would back them up. https://law.fiu.edu/2018/04/06/age-restriction-for-owning-a-gun-is-it-constitutional/ Of course, raising the age won't eliminate school shootings or other mass murder by firearms, but a recent batch of them have been committed by kids in the 18-20 year old range (the 35 year old Tulsa shooter being a notable exception.
How about supporting harsh sentencing for all crimes involving firearms. Or is that still being racist.
Again we get a false analogy. A Ram 2500 is not designed to get you drunk, nor to kill people. It's designed to haul things around. Now if you want to compare a ban on selling 100% grain alcohol to 18 year olds, or if you want to discuss the regulation of isopropanol, ethylene glycol, or methanol you may have some sort of argument.
A very good start. Unfortunately, as we have seen in the most recent mass shootings there was no crime until the mass shootings were committed and a harsh sentence given out to a dead shooter doesn't do much to discourage the next "law abiding" citizen of using an assault style weapon on some poor innocent school children or hospital..
The analogy holds up because each is equally effective in getting a desired outcome. Just pointing out the difference between how a political pussy reacts vs. someone who has the desire to protect and serve everyone, including school children.
