Well that's good. But how can you think or say that animals aren't conscious or do not have memories. Do you have any scientific proof of these beliefs?
Whether they do or they don't, it's so superficial that I don't feel bad about ending their lives. Do you have any evidence that they can actually appreciate the fact that they're living? And if you do, why should I care?
No I've never had a cat or a dog but I might want a cat. In my opinion a pet that brings someone joy has a lot more value than a farm chicken that does shit all with its life.
I have to be honest, sometimes it's difficult for me to even read responses such as some of these recent ones... it's frustrating, scary, and sad to me. And furthermore... it isn't even just heartless as it is extremely arrogant and ignorant... to think that humans are better than every other creature on this planet. What a shame... just what I think though, guess it doesn't mean it matters or anything..
at this point, I don't care who's "right" and who's "wrong"--- (truly no one really knows) for me, I feel no matter if "humans are necessary to the survival of some species" doesn't necessarily mean we're doing them any favors... not when we're pumping them with hormones, cramming them together in areas so tight they barely can move or breathe, cutting off beaks, etc. Wow. So by your theory their species lives on... but what a shitty quality of life!
Honestly what do you smug, self-satisfied bleeding heart types hope to do about the consumption of farm animals? Be annoying enough that maybe people will stop eating them to shut you up?
That would be cool! No seriously, even tho I haven't eaten farm animals in 34 years now, I've never tried to get anyone to change their behavior. I just hope maybe they'll notice how young I look and act for my age and think, "Hmmm, maybe I should stop eating meat so I'll be like him." But sure, I secretly wish everyone would stop eating animals.
I'm not trying to do anything about the consumption of farm animals, nor am I trying to change anyone. I personally make the choice not to consume them, and that is all. And on another note.. I don't think you should be the one calling any of us smug, when you just said yourself that your own life was more valuable than that of any other species'...
lmao... I just noticed this at the top of the forum: "Forum Description: This is a peaceful forum offering support to animal advocates and veg*ns. If you're here to flame or argue, please go elsewhere. Thank you." doesn't seem like anyone listens though...
You've noticed that too. Someone recently (about the age of my oldest grandson) accused me of not being 64. Kewl! Haven't eaten an animal since 1970. (My meat & potatoes family thought I would die if I didn't eat meat)
All people belonging to lawful societies are more valuable than farm animals. This belief doesn't mean that I'm self-satisfied. Please review your logic before posting.
I'm merely stating a fact. No life has inherent value. The lives of humans who live in lawful societies have value to others who live in the society because their murder would contribute to the weakening of the force of law and could incite the force of justice. The only value the lives of farm animals have is that which farmers who own them have afforded them. Animal rights activists attempt to afford farm animals the rights of humans. However they have not yet succeeded and thus the value of a farm animal's life is still left to the discretion of the farmer. Your logic is flawed. Stating a fact does not make someone smug. I have stated a fact. I have not displayed smugness.
