Nothing , I understand now...

This is patriotism. Sure, it seems harmless when it's just waving the flag at an England match, but it encourages a senseless devotion to a false ideal of nationhood. It discourages our questioning, and would have us act not on behalf of what is right and wrong, but rather because our country demands our loyalty. What folly.

We're all lonely creatures in this world, and seeking a pack with which to bond is a fundamental way in which we address this. It started with tribes, and has now blossomed into nations. At least when we knew our whole tribe, we were generally bonded to people with whom we shared common needs. Now though, we look for identity in a faceless entity that's too big to have any personal relevance to us, when the real challenge is to stand as individuals, and form meaningful bonds with those around us with whom we share a connection stronger than a flag.

the new thing is to have them attatched to your car...and i can't look at a car with them on without feeling anger and wanting to snap them off and dispose of them...

the number that have appaeared in such a short space of time is quite frankly worrying...i saw a taxi the other day with 6 of these flags attatched...one i can understand...2 would be fine if they weren't so irritating...but 6...is going a little too far i feel...

it's all very worrying at a time like this...with the bnp gaining support...

i'm not against people supporting their football team...but it's not even as though they can see all these flags...it just seems supid to be going this far...almost like marking territory...

Last year in the world cup, i was happy to so the cross of st george, cause it was loosing it's bnp association. The World Cup was a very happy one and the holigans seemed to have disappeared, and there were loads of other flags too... but now i'm back to not liking it again.

ps. the car thing isn't new.
