i live near wakefield...which some of you may have seen in the news was the site of a large riot on sunday night...7 people were stabbed...1 girl was raped shops and pubs were trashed...because england lost at football... a friend of a friend was in one of these pubs with around 100 england supporters...getting drunk and rowdy...which is fair enough..in that pub at the same time were 6 french fans...when the final whistle blew the french fans cheered and were beaten up and dragged into the street to be made an example of...some pubs locked their doors to stop people leaving and joining the riot...but when fighting broke out inside the pubs and the police had to be called in to break up these fights the streets filled up with angry beered up football fans wearing england shirts and waving england flags... again...i'm not saying that all england fans would have done that...but this is just an example of why i hate the flags...to me they symbolise everything i hate about this country...sorry but thats just my point of view...you don't have to agree with me if you don't want to...
And people like you couldn't spot a joke if it hit them over the head with a hammer. Have you had your humour gland surgically removed, or were you just born dull? I mean seriously, do you come here with the intention of insulting people, or do you just get random urges to make a wanker of yourself?
....i have a sense of humour . sorry i did not spot the joke. I reacted to the content. I still don't find it funny though. Bacause it is the way some people think. If you were being funny then thats fair enough..again just did not find it that funny. This was a joke.. If you did not realise..then we both have a sense of humour problem Ouch that almost hurt... Did i insult yoo , sorry about that . You don't realise if smoething things you say will be insulting to someome one (till they respond) ..No i don't go around randomly trying to make a wanker of myself..thats quite an amusing thought though. I am just being honest. If i have offended anyone then geee whiz i have been offended myself.
I live in Wakfield and the next day i were watching tv and it started talking about loads of fights being started but they didnt explain what had happened and its stupid that people get drunk and do things like that but you cant stop them from getting drunk they have to stop themselves.
Loads of countries all over the world have their own flags up in places, why shouldnt we? I know absolutely loads of people that have them, and they arnt in the slightest bit racist, facist etc... let the football supporters have their fun, it will soon all die down.
Well if you didn't intend to be insulting, sarcastic comments about 'throbbing veins' might have been best avoided. Even if you didn't see the humourous nature of the flag post, you didn't need to start being bitchy about it.
I can't really see the funny side of that banner. I am not a racist, a football supporter and I hope I'm not thought of as a simpleton. But I cannot see the problem with waving a flag to show support for your country in either a sporting event or other traditional/historic occasion. As I said before I had a flag on St Georges Day but as I hate football I refuse to have one now. I was pondering this earlier and it seems to me that a lot of people see being English as just being from the white Anglo-Saxon race, where another goup may see it as just a nationality that encompasses all races and creeds that were born and raised here. I'm pretty sure that the flag is for everyone in this country and not just those of Anglo-Saxon descent. If it represented just a single race then my opinion would most definitely differ.
Whether or not waving a flag makes you a racist is an entirely different issue from whether or not the above jpeg is funny. The point of jokes is that they use stereotypes which aren't necessarily true to life. It's a sad world when you can't find something funny just because it doesn't fit with your world view.
Now who is losing there sense of humour.... Paul could not see the funny side either .... could it be (shock horror)...tha it was not very funny. Though it may be true .. calling me a dull wanker is quite a hurtful thing to say don't you think... I have removed the insulting comment (if you look). shucks 'why can't we all get just get along' I thought people from Glastonbury were supposed to be cool...gee whiz.
Well I refuse to get into an argument over something that wasn't intended to cause offence ... even if something is intended to cause offence I like to think I can rise above it anyway. Just a little thought though: "Long hair, tattoos, piercings & beads; making casual drug addicts and dole scroungers easier to avoid" Offensive or harmless humour?
Sorry paul.. now thats funny your right paul .... It was this comment and the picture that made me jump too conclusions... seemed like a personal opinion , thats all.
Not particularly. But if you said: "Dogs on strings - advance notice of impending smell", that would be funny! Some of my best friends have had dogs on strings, but that doesn't mean that I can't laugh at the stereotype. My mates take the piss out of me all the time for being a long-haired hippy. Guess what? I laugh along with them. To be pedantic for a moment, it was a question, not a statement. And like I said, you pretty much unloaded with both barrels. If you're going to insult someone, then you can't really complain when they react. No problem. You apologised for being offensive, and so I don't hold it against you Ummm.... I thought you wanted to get along? So it's ok for you to stereotype 'people from Glastonbury' (whoever they may be), but others can't stereotype football fans? If your definition of 'cool' involves not responding to confrontational posts, then count me un-cool. Oh yeah, and for the record... Glastonbury isn't full of 'cool' people. It's full of twats.
I am getting the impression i am coming off your christmas card list ... I reacted to your post ... thats all . i did not know you had the worlds greatest sense of humour. And i forgot that as i do not know you personaly , what i have to go by is what you posted. Just to repeat I know that now.
THAT is cool ............. And thats all that matters... http://www.wearetheenglish.com/frameset.html There is a forgotten, nay almost forbidden word, which means more to me than any other. That word is ENGLAND." Sir Winston Churchill
And while you're at it ... UK Independence Party, from where it is only the shortest of hops to Combat 18. Spot the difference: Sorry, I just think it's fun winding matthew up...
Let's look at that image again. Right. Did you seriously think that I was suggesting that every person displaying an england flag was 'a simpleton and casual racist'? That's some very limited thinking. It's humour. Geddit? I'm not a twat. I'm a ****
Sorry, I just think it's fun winding matthew up... Today 05:47 PM showmet: Thats alright...i don't even own a bloody car to put the darn things on. I don't like football And quite frankly i am starting to hate the bloody flag myself... Plus being mixed race Pro EU Pro war and a ardent Labour supporter may not go down well .. plus that poxy Robert Kilroy Silk IS MEP for my area ...... wich is a nice tourist board advert for my area..NOT. Doc: I think it was a personal joke of your own that was not fully realised....forget if its funny or not... i do not quite see the reasoning behind posting it....i don't find satirical humour very funny since spittinhg image finished.
Just out of interest Mathew; what was your purpose in posting that link? Because after reading such statements as: Not really sure who is denying us this history, not seeing our history books being burned or our schools taking history lessons off the agenda. How about fuelling racism, feelings of superiority over other cultures and a lack of understanding regarding the real history of a country. I don't think that political correctness is always the best thing, it can take issues to the extreme and prevent honest discussions regarding a topic. But what kind of statement is the above? It almost sounds like it's been written by a BNP member. Really, on St. George's day how many people thought about 'their' country? How many people actually bought paraphernalia? I really don't think that the English generally speaking give a fuck about their history. Most people haven't got a clue about the last 100 years let alone the last 1,000! The majority of English pride is reserved for sport and not much else. I don't really see anyone being oppressed here do you? This is incredible. Again, very very subtle racial undertones. Could've been written by the BNP. What exactly do I carry within me that's so great? I found this on someone's site which sums it up quite nicely: And these are the final words from the site you linked Matthew: I'm actually finding it hard to express how I feel about that. I've never seen such bullshit! Sure, English history is filled with amazing and wonderful feats; but it's also filled with awful, bloody events. It's completely dillusional, self-righteous, superior and down-right bloody crap! I'm sorry but go read a few chapters on English history and tell me you agree with the above statements.
I linked to the site because i was looking through this http://images.google.com/images?hl=en&lr=&ie=UTF-8&q=st+george+flag and came across that site..it was merely because i used there quote and they had some nice shirts... The shoe seems to be on the other foot..how ironic I have no problem with removing the link...but i can't see much wrong with it actualy. oh and along with all of the info in my prev' post my birthday is on 23/4 . Now THAT is FUNNY.
