haha, I actually met my partner through hipforums. kind of a long story.

my sister used to post on here a lot and befriended a young fella, who was i think 14 or 15 when they first started chatting. 2 years later she got him to add me to MSN and we talked all the time (i was 15 when this started). we talked for about 5 years on the internet and the phone, and became super close. When i was 19 and he was 20, we decided to meet up and go tree planting together (we're both Canadian). So we did that, and we've been together ever since. It'll be 3 years this May, we're very much in love and it's truly amazing the journey life takes you on.

 

My opinion, I could never fall in love with someone via the internet.

But in a hypethetical situation where I did, it would be here on hipforums for sure haha

Aaaand now a serious response. I met my ex on another forum, we met in person, fucked like Viagra fuelled rabbits for a few months, fell in love and I thought we'd be happy ever after. Then I gave her money to buy a car and she moved in with a guy she met while shopping for the car...............

A few people from around the UK forum know that me and lithium have kind of liked eachother for years now Yes we fell in love with eachothers minds over the internet. People always think that's strange (or sickening. Ok, it's a bit sickening) We knew eachothers opinions about all kinds of things before we'd even met.

We talked for 5 years before meeting and have now been physically together for 10 months, but it feels like years. In a good way.

Well, not necessarily from Hip Forums, but why not? I have fallen in love with people I met on other forums. "Dated" (as well as one can over the internet) a few of them even. It's difficult, but I know someone who lives in Canada and his girlfriend is in Venezuela or something and they met over the internet. Seems like an almost impossible relationship, but this last year, they actually were able to travel to visit each other for the holiday's. So it's possible, but both people have to be very honest and trusting and trying for it to work. Takes a hell of a lot of commitment.

 

Sure, probably as likely as meeting someone on any dating website

IF you come here for that sort of thing. I mean there's loads of people, and it's easy to strike up friendships.


I'd not fancy it too much, though.

I think you can make good friends online, but I don't think you can fall in love with someone you have never met.

Obviously if you get along well online, then perhaps if you do meet you will fall in love, but for - you definitely have to meet them to really know them.
