I think gold digger has a bit of a negative connotation, so I think your statement is going too far. What I hope you are trying to say: "It's natural for women to be attracted to men who can provide for them." What it sounds like you are saying: "It's natural for women to use men for their money."

 

Of course its a negative connotation and is going too far.
What you're hoping he/she is trying to say is, does not actually represent the natural order of mother nature - as per every living organism is dying out these days.
