Or biggest myth in whole world by the number of people who believe it, maybe billions, almost everyone believes arch support is good or needed.

I think its a scam is but is their any science to back up the marketing claims "you need arch support" meaning everybody not just people with maybe some types of foot aliments ?

    Maybe I am wrong.

I just laugh when people spend hundreds of dollars on arch pads. I do believe that the human foot has it's own arch support. Most people couldn't believe that the human foot was originally designed to go bare.

I've seen a commercial for some new model of Sketchers shoes that has these super thick soles, I guess for super duper arch support.
    It's ridiculous.

My buddy gives me shit for wearing my vivo barefoot shoes. He said I need arch support, and all this other shit. My reply? Yea sure dude, coming for the guy whos obese, has back problems, and is going in for spinal surgery. Obviously his shoes didnt cause all of that but all these supports are messing up more things in our bodies than people believe. I am not a barefooter, but I wear minimalist shoes when I go out/go to the gym. I think everyone is different and I just do what is best for me. I have noticed a massive change over the last 2 years with my change of footwear. I had arch supports in my running sauconys. Covid and everything else that has gone on, ive worn my vivos or nothing at all majority of the time. I put those shoes back on after what was maybe 6-8 months, and i didnt even make it out the door before i decided to throw them in the trash.

What happened to me is I read one of those barefoot running articles that popped up all over the web years ago and like a science project decided to see if I could adapt to going barefoot.

Not running just changes the articles described.

A Within a week that awkward feeling of missing something when barefoot was gone and in about 2 weeks I could easily walk all the way to the beach 1/2 a mile no problem on the "rough" pavement.

Problem was after adapting to going barefoot I hated it when I had to wear shoes.

That part I did not expect at all but its the same thing.

I know where you're coming from. I absolutely cannot stand foot prisons haha... but yet im self concious about my feet/people seeing them. But, Ive gotte much muuuch better about it these past few years. Baby steps. Lol. But yea even the minimalist shoes i notice a massive difference in how i walk along with the foot mechanics. Its awesome.

Some people need arch support, temporary or permanent. It is also a great money maker for companies exploiting them to everyone else.
My foot issues improved once I ditched the shoes away from work. I wear very flat shoes at work.
