When I was a kid, progressives were funny and conservatives were angry schoolmarms. Now conservatives are funny and progressives are furious schoolmarms waging war on comedy past times like the Simpsons What a time to be alive
Conservatives still arent funny, sorry. I'm sure you noticed how fast they clutched their pearls after the White House Correspondent's dinner
I honestly can not think of any "conservative" comics besides the Blue Collar Comedy tour if anyone remembers that. They were all about guns, trucks, and Walmart. One of them had a bit that their audience loved about how stupid the Dixie Chicks were to criticize the president in a time of war. Another forgotten pop culture event. Rosanne seems to be the new bar but after watching an episode it's more like there is a conservative character surrounded by liberal characters who challenge their racism. It's not a pro con show. It seems the same as the 90's the news of the day is experienced by an American family. But other then that they seem to hate every form of entertainment. The movies are against them, the TV is against them.
Yeah Tim Allen has that show that is Home Improvement 2. He's a manly man with 3 kids who is often the victim of PC culture. Why can't he grunt and call people fags? It works in the 90's it works now.
Of course you're gonna find nothing when you look to the mainstream to search for funny conservatives
So they do not like money? Is it some sort of artistic statement like some bands would make? They are not part of the mainstream but that is OK because the mainstream will compromise them. If people laugh someone will want to market them.
No it's not about that. It's mostly that if you're an entertainer, and you express a non leftist viewpoint, you're career could be in jeopardy. Matt Stone and Trey Parker seemed to make it out alive for saying they hate liberals; they also provide one of the only shows that is keeping Comedy central afloat. Joe Rogen Gavin McInnis and maybe, Steven Crowder, but not so much
That's because something like 13% of the American population is black. America is still a mostly white country. So statistically yes the largest ethnicity in a country is likely to have the highest rate of poverty. A fish does not know it swims. You don't see privladge because you have never lived without it. It's a term that is used when it does not apply sometimes but it's a real thing. Even the poorest white person revives treatment different to that of a black or brown person sometimes. It does not mean the white person does not have a hard life but it's not AS hard in that moment.
Steven Crowder definitely annoys me lol I dont mind Joe Rogen, my boyfriend watches him a lot. I dont know if I would call him conservative, he seems pretty moderate. I actually like him because he isnt too rabidly one way or another. He's reasonable. I'll check out Gavin Mcinnis And i'll check out this dude too
It's blanket statements like this that serve no purpose here. You are assuming that I'm "privileged" because of my color? Do you actually see what you wrote here? And now you want to say that regardless of circumstances any given white person's life is not "AS hard" as that of any given black person. Seriously, this is blatantly false and these kinds of assumptions are exactly why we still have useless racial strife to this day. Oh and to the other one who lamented me for not mentioning LGBTQ folks, it's simply because I don't care how other people have their orgasms. I am positive nobody here wants to hear about my sex life, so I don't want to hear about anyone else's. However, I don't discriminate against people on the basis of their relationships and would never consider it. It's too bad we can't adopt some of the mindset I knew in the 70s. Back then people in the bay area didn't give a crap what you were as long as you weren't an asshole. These days it seems like we have some kind of perverted scoring system. Fuck that. It's weird how so many folks here actually judge others in a manner that I see from the hard core "Christians" around here. What's it like to exist on such a small planet?
Only the Americans judge. Erryone else is blahzay about it all lol. It is them, who are the ball lickers! I have never ever heard the term white privilege being referred to in any country but America. It's a fictional social construct. I'm not entirely sure of the definition of social constructure and cannot remember saying it ever in my life, but it's constructed from social peers and networks so, social construct seems fitting. If a person is born privileged to things like school, health etc. To me that's just a good job by the parents. I can't see how anyone could realistically put down people who are better off than themselves or other groups because of "privilege" like that. Back on track with the Simpsons, everybody seems privileged in comparison to Cleetus but the ironic part is, he has always been satisfied with the little of nothing that he actually has. Cleetus ain't like that. Be like Cleetus.
Irminsul, white privilege is very much a part of the collegiate curriculum in the United States. Perhaps it is so prevalent here because of the hundreds of years we had with slavery. The basic gist is there are certain things that white people take for granted which are not granted for people of color. Such as walking in a store and not being profiled as a potential security risk, or driving your car through a wealthy neighborhood. I've heard lots of argumentative articulation about this, but none of it seems to be accurate. I guess what I'm saying is, white privilege is very much a real thing.
