It seems I'm some sort of mystical creature who's immune to hangovers. No matter how much I drink, I always feel perfectly normal the next morning.
That must be it! I woke up at 5 and ran down the river a few miles, then back. I'll be 27 on the 24th. In my younger days I had terrible hangovers.
It's true. I used to be able to pound it back in the day but when I was 24 I, for some reason, decided to give up alcohol for a year. After that year, I was never able to drink the same again.
i just woke up incredibly hungover and this was the first thread i saw. "fuck you, man. fuck you so hard." was my immediate reaction.
Tis 11.59pm Here And GLEN Has Another Bottle Of Red To Consume Before Bed......I'll Report Back To You All First Thing In The Morning.... Cheers Glen.
I've got the other half of that bottle of Jager calling to me from the freezer. It's barely 10am and I gotta work tonight but I just wanna blast some bombs.
Agh, you are in those halcyon days where there is a balance between drinking, onset liver damage and no hangovers. I thought you were saying you have never had a hangover - EVER.
I handle alcohol better than most people, and hangovers have never been a huge issue with me. I find that age has definitely been a factor, though, because my body doesn't tolerate alcohol nearly as well as it used to, and it often leaves me feeling pretty weak and tired the next day if I drink in excess. These days, the most adverse effect that alcohol has on me is on my sleep. I don't sleep well when I drink, and if I do sleep, it isn't very restful sleep, and I wake up after just a couple hours, unable to fall back to sleep, feeling unrested, wired, and just shitty overall. I have gotten to the point where alcohol doesn't play a very big part in my life. I've been on vacation for the past week, and last night was the first night in about two weeks that I have had any alcohol, and it wasn't even a lot. I am really starting to think that alcohol is shit, quite frankly, which isn't to say I don't sometimes get the itch to drink on these hot summer nights. I am just now doing something I hadn't done in the past, which is exercising moderation. Besides, I am trying to get as fit as possible, and you just cannot get into peak shape when you regularly drink alcohol. You just can't. Too much depletes your testosterone levels and increases estrogen if you're a man, it has an adverse effect on protein synthesis, it messes with your blood sugar, and it makes you gain and retain fat. Plus, it just reeks havoc on your internal organs and dehydrates you. It definitely has some health benefits when consumed moderately, but any more and it's basically a poison to your body.
When I was younger I would get into a certain "mood" occasionally and I could drink a pint+ of tequila (Mezcal) straight with no hangover or anything. Other times if not in that "mood" I got sicker than shit. I haven't enjoyed a hangover in over a decade or more now. Achieved that the easiest way possible, I don't drink anymore. . The last one I had was thanks to half a bottle of Wild Turkey 101. After that it was "never again"
This is SO true, and the main reason I cut back. I weight lift 6 days a week, run 4 of those days, then do vinyasa yoga on my off day.
