Must live.. I have to say its great to cross swords with the village idiot. IF IM BORING.. GO AWAY...NO? And those questions were? Lay them out neat and clear, now. Racoons? cry at night.. what the? my sad little life. poor me. and i smell of shit. And you have awesome ass kicking existence. i have a quote you may understand.. by the Bard Life's but a walking shadow, a poor player. That struts and frets his hour apon the stage. And then is heard no more: It is a tale Told by an idiot, full of sound and fury. Signifying nothing.
Expansion? What? If I remember my relativity, although mass does increase (because of the increase of energy involved), the object it's self gets smaller (Lorentz–Fitzgerald contraction) as it approaches the speed of light.
Shhh... lol... It almost sounded right! I'm afraid it was the best I could do, granted I had to use a more vague connotation of expand. As in "Oh my, I have put on weight since I last weighed myself, my mass has expanded!" You are right, though, objects appear to contract at those kind of speeds. That's such an interesting area though because of course if you apply this to people in a space craft then their craft does not seem to shrink to them, only to people observing the craft from outside it from a much slower vantage point. Am I right?
A wonderful and thought inspiring verse, well done! You scored some good points there! The talk of racoons and crying at night etc was an attempt to throw sand in your eyes and err you further from the path of reasonable debate. It worked a little as your attention was focused on them for a while but they did not have the effect that I had hoped for. It was a risky and foolhardy tactic, far removed from strategy, but it was not wholly useless, for I am indeed indulging in the pleasure of explaining my use of wild accusations to you. A couple of points to me there! My questions were as follows: 1) Oh, were we playing a game? (At which point I began to play a game with you just in case we were) 2) Why so glum, chum? 3) If I don't "understand" your position (I never said I don't understand, I've understood everything you've said) and berate you for it, you choosing not to understand my position gives you no chance to bring understanding of your position to me, you see? 4) Why did you put stars in the word fuck? 5) What's making me a sycophant in this situation? As an extension to that: How am I sycophant? (This will be hard to answer unless you can apply humility). 6) Thanks for presenting my own words back to me... Now what the fuck was that supposed to prove? 7) I thought you wanted to debate? The questions are pretty easy to spot normally, Jo. A big clue is the fact that they have a question mark immediately after them.
I just saw your comment and thought, somehow that doesn't seem quite right, so I thought I'd ask. And since you were answering a comment that wasn't really talking about science, a little poetic (scientific) license is allowed. Oh, don't let the title fool you, It doesn't seem to me that they And I believe you are correct, the people traveling at near light would not would not notice time slow down, their length decrease or their mass increase, only outside observers would notice any of it. PS We discussed gravity in another thread and in the thread quantum physicist theory on god, someone posted a link to these videos; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yUXP7_-N4Q4"]Is There a Creator (Through The Wormhole 1) part 1 of 32 - YouTube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SEacEQ4RNUU"]Is There a Creator (Through The Wormhole 1) part 2 of 32 - YouTube you can ignore the God part but the last of the first video and the first of the second talks a little about Garrett Lisi and has some interesting info on gravity that you might find interesting. Oh and don't let the title put you off, to me it seems to be more about "Through the wormhole" than it is about "Is there a Creator" but that question is asked.
Thanks, I will check them out. I won't ignore the God part, I'll listen to that too and titles like that do not put me off. Just so you know.
I didn't know, I just found the part about Garrett Lisi and gravity interesting and thought you might also. It looks like a PBS series.
Yes! Now I can finally return to my work tending to the gravely ill, you wait until the sickies get wind of this, it will bring them mirth in their final hours of life.
Amen to that, Wa Bluska Wica - you said it all; exploitation is precisely what they will do/are already doing. Must Live Life - I love your first comment about the rope! Yeah, the way I see it is, the proverbial Powers That Be will hog it all to themselves. They're probably already living in some space platform city so they won't be affected by all the outrageous experiments they're doing with our planet when they backfire. Oh, Must Live Life - I so enjoy your intellect; laced with sarcasm and humour in this forum - - tell it like it is, Brother!! And, your showing of graciousness with the head start, and all that - priceless! My hat's off to you ..... We're not going to get resources off of other rocks in space, sorry. That's assenine. That kind of thinking in the first place causes more bullshit here. The problem is not taking care of what we have, and either considering it someone elses problem or planning to get off this rock. That will NOT happen. THat said, it's a terrible crime that we go picking fights and killing people all over the globe, but won't pay for the space program.
RooRshack - for once, I agree with you wholeheartedly! Really? No iron or molibdium. No tin lithium or carboniferous chronadtaes. These rocks like 30 time the mass of earth are dirt? Astereriod belt has all the heavy metal we can use for 10000 years,, saturn 70% of water in solar system I suggest you shut the f&ck up fool
idiots like you are why nasa has to fight fight for every dollar of its 10 billion budget.. yet do you while like a pussy when military gets 50 billion for new ICBM launching nuke subs? ssbn OHIO Oh theh will save the planet retard.. when resources go 200 nukes will save the day
You are being such an asshole that I think I'm going to leave you alone to rant. No wonder people aren't persuaded by you. I think what he meant is that it costs so much to transport such heavy resources from there that it would never come close to being economical.
Have you ANY clue how much energy it takes to even get small unmanned probes to those places? How dangerous it is? How flat out impossible it is, to move large mining enterprises and their equipment around through space? Maybe if they ever get that space elevator working, we can start thinking about even sending people there, or learning much about anything. But for now, no. (and the space elevator guys are "shit all over earth, find a new one" loonies too) Improving tech doesn't change the reality of physics, it just allows us to take the most advantage of physics.
This is truth. Ecology necessitates that we split eggs into various baskets. Also if we don't make use of Earth's diversity and also split it into many baskets it will all go to waste. Earth so far being so diverse with life covering all of it, we will have some some of life to take anywhere, if there is any left, or until we run out of energy.
