good question do you actualy believe we are there to promote freedom? and if so what brand? i could point you to the history books that were writen by the victors! to establish the "united states of amarica" and the atrocities that made that possible do you realy believe that those atrocities do not continue till this day on an international level?
Good in that it makes the politicians feel that American interests in the Mideast are being defended. Bad in that the groups that don't like the U.S. in their territory have even more reason to rebel against it. Imagine if a country from the Mideast had its troops stationed for, say, ten years in Kansas (or Britain) and said it was going to bring a better system of government and way of life to America. Moreover, imagine that it said it was justified in doing it because the U.S. had WMD that could hurt other countries (which is true). .
well shaggie i cant tell wether you are mocking me or agreeing with me i think it is the latter! pls clairify
Did you know that alot of Terrorist became a terrorist because the US has troops in Saudi Arabia. There would be alot less terrorsism would have he US army pulled back those troops after the first Gulf war. The main reasons for terrorists becoming so extreme is the US support to Israel and the presense in Saudi Arabia.
I don't see it as 'promotion' just logistics.. 'United states of America' was a multinational 'effort'*. .. The United kindom was a multi national 'effort' The list goes on. We still have huge influences from those that dominated us (especialy in the UK) ..... good/bad .. 'what did the romans do for/to us' ?, a bloody lot...thats the way i would look at it comeing from your personal perspective... Me, i think it is not quite like that , multinational responses to international affairs is how i see it... The financial burden is what makes it americas (being the richest) 'responsibility' i think !. http://www.globalsecurity.org/military/facility/iraq-intro.htm Good/Bad ??? I still don't know...but don't see it as a global dominance strategy... *for want of a better word.
