If I restore my iphone will it sync my contacts? It's messing up ever since the last update, I want to try restoring it without restoring from a backup.

Are the contacts on your iTunes?

Sync it with iTunes…. then restore it. Then sync it again.

    Oh really that's it?

I'm not going to do it now, at least right this minute. I realized how much stuff is on here. Text conversations from a year ago and what not. Only one that I really want to keep but for now I'm keeping it. It's someone special, old friend and roommate who's moving back in a couple weeks and in this text conversation I more or less admitted to being in love with her that whole time. I want to see what happens when she moves back before I delete it.

Yep its that easy. I have text threads on my phone back to 2009. I've had like 5 iPhones since the original one when the thread started. It just transfers from phone to phone :) Awesome, isn't it?

So you restore and then sync it and that's it? Or do you have to hit 'restore from backup'

No no… sync it to iTunes. Then restore it. Then sync it to iTunes again.

So just to confirm. Just doing a regular sync will save contacts and texts? But apps and music will be gone? That's what I'm looking for, a fresh install just want my texts and numbers. Way too many contacts

Ok… your iTunes syncs what you tell it to. You could remove all the apps and music w/o restoring. Just connect your phone to iTunes, open up your device in iTunes (your phone), and then select what you want on your phone / deselect what you don't want there.

Yeah but if I have some kind of corrupted file/bug it won't fix that.

Here's one of the main problems. I just reformatted my pc and it will let me backup but I can't add any new music.

Can you add anything? How much memory is left? Might be time to move your junk to an external hard drive or add more memory.

I have 20 something gigs left on my phone, 300 on my laptop, and 2 terabytes external haha. It's something with the new ios 7.. it's been giving me all kinds of issues. I'm close to backdating to 6 and jailbreaking again.

Hmm I haven't had any issues with ios7…..

Just do like I said in that order. Its sync it first, then restore, then sync. But probably best if you to go apple.com/support for more specific directions.

Oh nevermind, I just hit restore and it said you'll have an option to restore contacts and texts. Guess I should have read. Even if it messes up I saved the picture she just recently sent - I would probably marry this girl. I'll put it up temporarily.

Also, I don't even sync my stuff properly like I should. Most of the time, I just email myself the pics :)

Haha, yeah I have that side to me I guess. It's a really long thread that I sat here and read the whole thing and I don't want to lose it. At least until I see what happens. She's moving here the first week of Jan, pretty crazy. Because we never had those kind of talks when she lived here before. Just friends and she rented a room from me for a couple months.

If we do start dating that will be the first time I didn't just meet and immediately start dating or hooking up, then all of a sudden be in a relationship.

I do that too, I also just disabled icloud. Can't stand it.. it keeps syncing music that I don't even want on my phone then I can't get it off.

I think thats awesome.. you will have gotten to know her and been able to judge whether she's a good enough match to risk catching feelings! You know those feelings….

I know what you mean about getting to know someone better once they've gone far away. I feel like the veil of insecurity is lifted, people can be more honest because there is less risk involved.

Yeah.. I already know her well. She has a really good heart, likes to cook and is damn good at it, incredible photographer, incredible taste in music and fashion, adventurous, upbeat and just a badass vibe about her. Loves classic cars, family oriented.

But yeah part of it was I almost feel like I'll lose my cool talking to her, just hugging her is this awesome feeling. When I feel like that it makes me somewhat nervous. But the main reason I never brought it up was because she was my roommate and I didn't want to be a creep like that if she didn't feel the same way. Turns out she did though and had no idea I did. She's always said the nicest things to me I should have known.

So we'll see. I told her I want to take her to dinner and some drinks and she said she'd love that.

    Sounds like wifey material :)

Don't be afraid to enjoy it babyyyy!! Let it flow :) Isn't that what love and relationships are all about? If she reciprocates - hell yes. If she doesn't - on to the next. I live my life to the fullest and feel the full range.

I love how this thread went from iPhone to love matches.
