So to advertise my comics, I've introduced a new character, Mr. Hep. Mr. Hep is essentially a self-aware Beatnik type guy with glasses, beret, the whole deal. In this line I hope to evoke a beatnik aesthetic, with beatnik-type abstract art, lines that mean nothing, etc. Mr. Hep is a cartoon, and thus his surroundings are very cartoonish as well, he's an exaggeration of that culture, stretched to its limits. So my question is, is this font at the top right? Does it evoke that feeling, that sense of nostalgia for the few and bewilderment for the others? I've seen this font quite a bit, and I used a similar one (minus the stained glass splitting) for my earlier poster, "Are You Stoned?" I might use other ones for future posters, but I want all of them to be era-accurate. For reference, I include some similar fonts from the 50s-60s. If Mr. Hep gets enough exposure, I might do a whole comic on him. Thanks for your feedback!
You have a great talent. In my opinion the header on the first page is the weakest link. Its neither retro nor contempory, Go look online at some 1940s/50s mags to get a better idea. Do more research.
