Intelligence is overrated.

I see where your coming from but it can just as easily be a paradise we were all given the gift to come to. Earth can be hell at times, but its still a marvelous and beautiful thing in a lot of ways.

 

True for some of us,but it depends on what perspective and who's? The child who is born into disease and poverty, with a horrible disease of their own?...the animal raised for slaughter?...the people who were in the wrong place at the wrong time like 911? Do you see where I am coming from, too?

 

It is us lateral thinkers who can solve the practical that "normal" people cannot solve.

Actually if you knew me and were familiar with my thoughts on such things, you would know that I have on NUMEROUS occasions talked of the need to tailor the message to the intended audience in order to more effectively convey the message. I actually can't count the number of times I have pointed that out in various discussions here.

You my friend are the one who has utilized many, many words but really hasn't said very much.

So with all that in mind and seeing you had a problem with my previous attempts at communicating with you I will rephrase it in terminology more in keeping with your apparent comprehension level and short attention span;

If so, whatever...but I have always considered you with a great deal of respect.

 

I don't really think the way the op verbally expresses himself says anything about his intelligence. I have a friend whose IQ is in the 150s (he isn't the type to brag about it either, one of his family members told me) and you can tell in conversation he is very intelligent but you would think he was borderline retarded if you saw the way he spells and expresses himself online.

There are different types of intelligence too. I have a high verbal intelligence but those find the pattern questions on IQ tests stupefy me.

But yeah if I'm being honest I wouldn't guess your IQ is in the 160s from the way you express yourself online, op.

 

Thats cool respect your opinion of course. Sorry if i come across as a bragger or arrogant im not in real life at all just speaking my mind over the net of course. My writing is actually A LOT different from my typing i suppose its because most young people today have been typing as strictly instant communication for so long. To be honest i dont think my personal writing could even be comprehended by anyone but me and possibly some very close friends of mine.

 

Why not post things in the style you utilize in your personal writing and we will see.
It is arrogant of you to assume that nobody here would comprehend it, so why not put us all to the test.
and as you have previously pointed out, it is necessary at times to tailor the message for the intended audience. I would think for a person of your intellect that would not be difficult.
Heck, I have nowhere near a 162 IQ and I manage fairly well.

I mean, if I can understand thedope 87% of the time, I doubt you will present much of a challenge.

its not only over rated, its inconsistant. so what ever it is measuring, its not some consistent capacity of the brain. take multiple iq tests, each when in a different emotional state, and you will absolutely get differing and inconsistant results every time. the only thing close to being consistant with, is your emotional state at the time you take the tests.

i don't think this is an over rating of intelligence itself, but of the usefulness of existing standards such tests are based upon.

 

My son went through testing and it was 20 hours spread over 4 days.

I think short or online tests can be fun to take but to put too much credence on those results or take the results too seriously is probably not a good idea.

I've always scored extremely well on those tests because I'm good at logic and puzzles, which is a skill intelligent people have, but to call it a quotient of intelligence seems inaccurate, and the only reason I'd venture that people could fall for it is that most people are pretty stupid.

I was frustrated by the jobs I was able to get in my early 20's too, people are dicks to minimum wage workers. I'd advise learning a skill, being smart doesn't pay any bills.

I have been under the mistaken impression that how one presents oneself includes the correct spelling of words, concomitance of syntax, coalescence of major points in a presentation. I always thought adherence to these basic points meant literacy. The fuck do I know?
