N can you believe her dreads where done by backcombing and bees wax n there 7 years old and look amazing My reason for using wax n not thinking anything of it.
Wax makes mold. Mold is not hot. Also attracts dirt. Dirty mold smells funny, I bet. But to each their own, I guess.
Wax will make it smell nice, and she's lucky then. I know people who had to shave off their dreads because of wax related mold problems. I'm sure she doesn't slob 'em down with wax.
Yes, more often then not people end up at least cutting off the waxy bits once their hair grows. Ive never heard a good wax story...unless the person telling the story is selling said wax, or they were Black guy dreadlocks. The salon done pencil thin ones. Those dont count though.
Yeah i dont know anyone cutting there dreads because of Wax, the only people i know that even have cut there dreads was because of Jobs. I know plenty of Dread heads too. I still chose not to use wax, because i do like the aloe better.
I know one, her name was liz. but she had a mowhawk dread thing going on, so her sides were shaved, and she the dreads were short. But they started getting mold, and even though she washed them I guess she couldn't get all the wax out or some shit like that. So snip snip. She's used to short hair though, so it wasn't no big thing.
In my humble opinion, wax and aloe and all that frizz-compressing stuff is just...silly. Let it be wild!
not always but I agree, wax isn't my thang. I don't think it necessarily "ruins" dreads in the literal sense EVERY time if used properly, but I would never put it in my locks because I like em wild.
