i don't believe i really understand how this term is being used today. how it can be taken or given by anyone else, or how it can be possessed, other then by not shaming one's self. i don't believe i would call arrogance, or whatever it is, that is being called self esteem, any sort of esteem at all. having confidence in something means not feeling like you have to prove it. if you feel that, and everyone does a little, that's called insecurity.
I've noticed this. The most confident folks I know don't seem to genuinely know what they're doing: they just say it loudly and with conviction. Everyone follows.
I remember in the high school formal there was blonde bombshell type girl, hottest in the school, she was very good looking and she knew it too. It was like, sickening in a way how much attention she needed. Anyways at the formal she won the FIGJAM award, and she went on all night about how happy she was she won it. She didn't understand what the award really meant. We'd all heard FIGJAM (Fuck I'm Good Just Ask Me) and she did too but she just didn't understand she got voted and won that award because she was painfully annoying. Lol. And then became worse once she won it.
