What do you do when you get infatuated (some prefer to call it "in love") with a celebrity? It is one of the worst types of unrequited love, don't you think so?

    No I don't think so.

If you think you're in love with a celebrity simply based on their work, and probably on visual appearance alone...that to me symbolizes everything wrong with how a society thinks about attraction, love, and relationships.

It's extremely superficial, and it is probably more accurate to say you are in lust with a celebrity rather than love.

(Exception: You know the said "celebrity" in real life face-to-face and are crushing on them, like you would any other person.)

i don't get infatuated with celebrities.

i think it's probably the best kind of unrequited love. the worst is when you have to see and talk to the person every day.

The fact that someone is a celebrity in the first place makes me unable to be infatuated with them to begin with.

    I could understand that.

The significant other of a celebrity has to endure the paprazzi, the romantic love and affectionate scenes their partner has to do for their job.

It isn't for everyone, which is why I think celebs date and marry within that high rolling social circles...the comfort and empathic level of understanding what the job entails and a partner who isn't going to bite your head off because they know how the industry works. This includes time constraints and travel demands.

    yea that too.

I was basically just getting at the fact that, being a "hipster" as they would call it, I look down on most things that are pop culture.

    Ah.

Well as for me I go back to the origins of like and dislike and forget all the trends and labels.

Go back to remembering how you made preferences when you were little. If you liked something you liked it because you did, not because of peer pressure which comes later in childhood.

^Stick to that philosophy and you'll forget about being "hipsters" or "anti-hipster" or anything else.

    It's a lot less stress.

Really? I always thought those who labeled themselves as hipsters intentionally tried to follow counter-culture trends, meaning they put effort into doing that.

Whereas in that I said, I'm not trying to do anything. I just am.

trying to escape labels, is in and of itself, a hipster thing... you just can't not be labelled
