I got a lot of client that confuse about single phase power and three phase power. Because most machine that I set up is single phase 208V.
Is three phase 208 V the standard in US?

 

That's a common industrial voltage, along with 480/277V three phase. Residences are 240V single phase with a center tap for two 120V lines. I guess they don't do that in Europe, not too sure though. Where you from?

 

I live in US, but lot of equipment i have set up are from Asian, mostly China and Korea.
Yep, I have let my client set up for single phase 240V before I go for installation.

 

In the UK, our LV is 415V star with the star centerpoint taken to ground. This provides 240V for domestic. Since one end of the single phase is ground, it cannot be center tapped.
Our HV is 11KV delta with the middle phase grounded. Few buildings are connected at this voltage, except for boilers over 500KW. Heathrow airport is connected to the grid at 11KV
