cooks are exposed to people smoking in the kitchen? hmmmm cooks are also exposed to smoke in the kitchen from the actual cookingtoo....
um, servers, bartenders and the like are all free to find new jobs if you don't like it. its not there business is it? most probable answer is, no its not there business. so they can go fuck off and find a new job if they dont' like the smoking going on
Whatever. I mean the only thing that is happening by banning smoking in restaurants and the like is advocating a healthier lifestyle, so be it. Just stay out my home, LAWS!!!!!!!!!
that's what happened when they banned smoking in toledo. all the bars/restaraunts within the city lost all their business and the bars in the suburbs picked way up.
there is another ignorant comment from someone who doesnt work in the restaurant business. its not that easy for people like me to find another job. seriously. that is so rude. you fuck off and find another job. really. and to answer your other one........ cooks are exposed to the smoke because the smoke doesnt leave the building. it LINGERS, do you get it?
all of you people are so rude and ignorant. dont you all get it???????????? you smokers are hurting everyone else by smoking. I dont choose to smoke so you think I should be exposed to it, because I chose to make a living as a cook?? its the only thing I can do , so now all of a sudden at 33 years old you are saying I should go onto something else??? Ive tried working in a manufacturing plant and that wasnt me. I was so miserable there......... and now you are saying I should leave because I dont want to have second hand smoke??? so, I guess I have to change how Ive been making a living, because Im not respecting other peoples rights to smoke?????????? fuck off! what about my right to be able to breathe in clean air?? seriously, here is a big fuck you to all of you guys who say that. so ignorant. and it just shows you have no compassion. good day.
you did smoke. and I know matt did as well, if not still....... you arent in the restaurant business are you??????? so why do you three feel the need to tell people who are to fuck off and go somewhere else??? so then shut your mouth. end of story.
I never really looked at it from an employee standpoint which is not a very good excuse. I don't know where I stand on this at this point... I suppose if you REALLY want to smoke you can have your cigarette away from everyone else's air space. I suspect it isn't exactly practical to set up a ventilated smoking room to accommodate those who need to light up but not compel employees to work in the environment...
Yo... You seriously need to um, think of who said what- I never told anyone to fuck off and go somewhere else- I just laughed. And so what if I DID smoke? Doesn't make me a "smoker" currently. Matt smoked for little bit in high school (haha, see I keep up, I keep up).... And, again, I have worked in restaurants and likely will be seeking a job in a restaurant very soon again. (also considering culinary school)
Ding, Ding, Ding, Ding, Ding.... The point madcrappie seems to be missing even though it's been repeated over and over.
some people are passionate because when someone tells me to fuck off, when my life is dependant on my job, I do get quite irate. Im good at what I do, and because some people choose to smoke, why do I have to breathe that in?? seriously.
if the government doesnt intervene, do you think businesses would ever comply to employee's concerns??????????????? NO! if the government didnt say that bars must close at 2 am, and liquor stores at 11 pm, dont you think they would stay open at all hours of the night, and more people would be out on the streets drunk as hell??? YES. all hours of the day too.
Well I think businesses would do what was best for their profits. And it would vary. Also, laws would still be the same. So people wouldnt be running around drunk. And anyways, im speaking about smoking issue only.
i love being an asshole - i get taken so seriously Ryan, don't take what i said so seriously. some of it i do believe - some i don't, particularly that the workers should have some protection while on the job. they should, and they shouldn't have to be exposed to harmful things that can be prevented - the workplace should do its best to make sure of that. but on the flip side, i don't believe its the gov't repsonsibility to make sure of that - especially when its run by fucking morons who preach family values, yet go around trying to suck some dick in bathroom - i'm sorry, the gov't is in our lives far too much for that shit to happen. thats why it should be up to the business owner - i do get the fact that many places just can't provide the opportunity to find new jobs out of the blue - that was me just being an asshole - but when i see owners lose money and business over bans like this, when they did there best to put up new rooms with ventiliation from there pocket, it pisses me off because i do support the owner of such bar in my tiny ass town where i go to school. i do understand that in smaller cities its harder to switch and find more suitable jobs. i dont' have to be in the restaurant business to know how it operates. i have plenty of friends and family who work or worked in it - from restaurant managers to cooks to dishwashers (i was a dishwasher at one time though) to waitstaff. so i'm not as ignorant as you think i am - i just like being an asshole
