i've never really bought incense cones more than once or twice. i surely can't say.

they are pretty much no better or worse than sticks, though, as far as i'm aware. made of the same stuff, no bamboo.

they should burn roughly the same time i'd think cause its the same amount of material....but theres more area burning the farther down it goes, so maybe it burns faster and the scent is far stronger towards the end due to more combusting materials at that point? i dont know....

either way, if its nag champa cones vs. sticks, or super hit or anything else, i'd seriously doubt theres any huge significant difference. probably just ascetic preferance. of course i readily admit that i dont really know.

basically i think super hit cones will smell identical to super hit sticks. the difference, if any, will lie in burn time and intensity of the aroma at given points in the burn.

there may be essentially no difference, though.

but if there is a difference, it is not at all likely to be in the aroma or quality.

thats a pretty decent deal....but you could probably get more sticks than cones for the same price, and get almost as many types...

for example if you bought the shrinivas sampler (10 each of sai baba nag champa, super hit, fresh rose, super sandal, royal, and natural, all by the makers of nag champa and super hit) and the hex pack sampler (20 each of spiritual guide, ratnamala and bharath darshan, by at least two different manufacturers) you'd be getting 120 sticks for 9.70....and you'd actually be getting 9 different scents to try instead of 7. of course you wouldnt get the burner, but its an unnecessary accessory if you already have a stick burner.

cones and sticks of the same fragrance by the same manufacturer have the same blend of ingredients and will possess the same qualities....theres really no need to go for fewer cones of fewer varieties just to get a burner out of the deal, if you already have a burner to use for stick incense.

i didnt read your post before i posted my last one but im not going to get that sampler pack thing anyways. i need a new box burner for sticks and then it also comes with cone burners so i just thought id try out some cones. i figured 7.50 for a nice wood box burner would be nice. they incense store in the nearest mall sells them for like 15 bucks or somewhere around there. i havnt been in there in a long time so im not really sure what they cost now.

and im already getting nag champa and super hit so i would still only be getting 7 different scents. well anyways when/if i do end up buying it this is what i think ive decided on getting.

    Fresh Rose Incense - 10g pack $0.95
    Natural Incense - 10g pack $0.65
    Royal Incense - 10g pack $0.65
    Nag Champa Incense - 100g $4.95
    Super Hit Incense - 100g Box $4.50
Super Sandal Incense - Cones $1.49 (i know the sticks are a little cheaper but i just want to try some cones)
Wood Incense Box Burner Celestial - 12'' $7.50
Hex Pack Indian Incense Sampler $4.75
    Total $25.44

hippieshop is a bunch of bullshit....terrible selection

but anyway, i did indeed order my incense tonight (a few minutes ago) so that it will ship tomorrow and get here asap.

i spent too much money though (a touch over 30 bucks after shipping [IMG])

anyways, i got three boxes of japanese incense, all made by nippon kodo

first i got a box of 200 sticks of morning star, nippon kodo's economy line (most popular and common NK incense in the states)

it ran me 6.50 for a box of 200 sticks of green tea scented incense. i find it a very nice, very pleasant and exotic scent for how inexpensive this incense is. it was a tough choice between my two usual scents (amber and green tea) but i have both right now and i've got to say i think the green tea is a little better. the smell doesnt really remind me very much of brewed green tea, but it is very pleasing and unintrusive. i can burn a couple sticks in one night if i have a window open....its a great cheap incense

i also spent the 2.25 for a box of 30 sticks of daigen-koh rosewood incense. its much longer than your average japanese incense stick and consequently is far longer burning (apparently roughly 90 minutes burn time rather than the more common 20-35minute burn time found with 5-6" sticks)

i have no idea what rosewood smells like, but its perfectly affordable and i just thought i'd give it a go.

the most expensive of what i bought is tokusen mainichi-koh (mainichi-koh means "everyday incense," tokusen is the kyara aloeswood scent in the mainichi-koh line)....its pricey, but you get a lot for your money, and kyara is appartently the highest grade aloeswood you can get. finer aloeswood incense can run $100 (or several times this!) for a pack of less than 50 sticks, so around 350 sticks for $17 is quite nice...i've never bought aloeswoo incense myself, so this will be a nice and affordable introductory stick that will last me some time.

so i should be getting around 580 sticks of incense in a few days, for 30 bucks including s/h

im kind of sorry for spending so much money on something like incense, but hell...i'm getting a ton of it, and only the morning star incense is available in my area as far as i'm aware. i've been considering trying some new, better types of incense a lot lately, and i think i've ended up with a good decision. next time i will be more adventurous and stray from nippon kodo, though.

when i receive my package, i will post reviews of what i think of the daigen-koh and the tokusen mainichi-koh, as well as how service was.

i ended up going with incense warehouse in order to get the best shipping time. i live in ohio and figured i would get the most quick shipping from them because they are based in new york state. i considered incenseguru so i could get some bharath darshan, but they're based all the way out in utah. i also considered japanincense, but they're even farther away, in california.

    heres what i ordered:

so, exactly 3 business days later, i have received my incense in the mail.

i haven't tried the rosewood, but the prelight aroma is delightful.

i'm currently burning three sticks of the aloeswood mainichi-koh, and i've got to say its probably one of the nicest incenses i've EVER purchased, and i think the price was 100% worth it.

i am tempted to try even more aloeswood sticks in the future, but all the incense i have now will last quite some time.

so after a while of burning it, i can say the aloeswood mainichi-koh is great! the daigen koh is wonderful, too, but i really like the aloeswood.

i'll need to order some other aloeswoods to see what the comparison is, but i gotta say that for the money this stuff is top notch! especially good if you let people smoke cigarettes in your house.

this is one of the few incenses that i will say smell better in an enclosed area than someplace with good ventilation.

i could hook you up with some good stuff....i love incense, and unfortunately i burn it too often. it seems to have bad effects on my health if i burn it indoors regularly, similar to smoking (but not QUITE as bad)

    I use Liquid Blue brand

    scent Mushroom Vision

It smells good if you like the typical hippie-ish smell.
