Nag Champa and Gonesh African American "Rhythm" are my favorites. They are the strongest I've used and they just outright smell awesome.

Well I bought some new incense today including a 20 stick package of Gonesh 8 (perfume of a spring mist). Wowza is that number 8 nice and clean smelling. I picked up two 20 stick hexagonal boxes of padmini patchouli,a 20 stick hex box of padmini om (very chill), a 100 stick box of Goloka nag champa, and I got four 8 stick boxes of goloka for free to spread the word (the guy always give me deals and throws in freebies so I will spread the news about his store). I have smoked two bowls of pretty good mids and there is no smell whatsoever. MMMM spring mist.

come payday i think i'm gonna get some new incense. i always go with what i know and can always get these days, and my experience with purchasing japanese incense in particular is fairly limited.

i've got a few choices in mind i'm looking at, because i want to expand my horizons :p

i mostly only ever get morning star for japanese incense, which is good for an everyday brand, very affordable yet generally much nicer than most indian incense i know, but i want to try a step or two up and get some more traditional varieties, but still not extremely expensive stuff.

i've been exposed to nicer stuff, but never had it myself.

heres some of the stuff i'm looking at ordering come thursday evening:

http://www.santosha.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=433 <=definitely want to get this lower priced aloeswood. 18 bucks is a lot for one box, but keep in mind the box has 300+ sticks in it and aloeswood is pricey to begin with....a much, much smaller box of REALLY good aloeswood incense can run upwards of a couple hundred dollars

http://www.santosha.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=1995 <=i will definitely buy this. i dont believe i've ever had a rosewood incense and dont know what to expect, plus its very inexpensive and they are quite a bit longer than your average stick of japanese incense which only lasts 20-30 minutes. this could potentially be very nice in the coming warm weather when i can open up my windows.

http://www.santosha.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=2946 <=strongly considering this. no description, so i dont know what to expect, but its affordable and it looks intrigueing. worth a shot, probably!

http://www.santosha.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=1018 <=the description is nice, and its quite affordable.

anyway, i want to try a few new varieties, and my selection in my town is rather limited (at least, it's limited to the few places i know to look)

also considering getting a nice ceramic bowl designed for incense (filled with sand to either hold the stick upright or on which a piece of charcoal can be placed for raw resin/wood incenses, or cones may be burned)

i only have a burner suited for incense with a bamboo core, and the cheap ones you get for japanese incense in morning star packages do not come with all brands, to my knowledge, and they get scorched and discolored quickly....i'd like a bowl burner, but i'd probably be better off going to a thrift store and finding a cool dish of some sort and getting that and filling it with sand. much more affordable, i'm sure.

but these are kind of cool: http://www.santosha.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=1702

still, why pay 15 when i could pay like two bucks for a cool dish at a thrift store?

looks legit to me. i can't imagine its a rip off.

also i know of www.japanincense.com , but that is strictly for japanese incense.

    www.incenseguru.com looks good as well.

it looks fine, and using a card online is no more dangerous than going to a restaraunt and having a card taken into another room for a few minutes.

ordering a bowl or "legal" highs online is shady....ordering incense is likely fine. it looks good to me. but i'll probably be ordering from one of these sites on thursday or friday. if i do, i'll let you guys know what service was like when i recieve the order.

honestly though i've ordered all sorts of products online and never had an issue.

    indeed, its another i'm considering.

i'd like to try some tibetan incense, too, and some more chinese incense (i've only bought one variety of this before, and it was nice)

i was just going to order a nice wooden box with cone burning spots in it. then i was going to get some sample pack thing and some super hit sticks and cones. ive never really tried to burn to many cones so i thought it would be good for a try. that insencewarehouse has some pretty godr prices on everything that ive looked at. i have no idea abot other types of insence if i smelled them before hand i would get them but i dont wanna jump into some random kinds. you have been around alot more and everything to you can get some different kinds.

if you like indian incense and you like a rather floral, clean smelling scent my one recommendation is to try bharath darshan. as much as i prefer the japanese incenses i've smelled, i really do like this stuff. it really blows nag champa or super hit out of the water. it is pretty different from them, but its just wonderful.

    http://www.incenseguru.com/bharat_darshan.html

get it and try it. if you decide you hate it, i hereby pledge to mail you two dollars to replace the cost to you :p

everyone sticks to nag champa and similar sticks....well i think this is really nice and would like to share it with other folks.

so donvito, get it! if you dont think its great, i'll replace your two dollars!

oh yeah, i couldnt figure out why they had it offered on the sampler but not by itself. i bet if you called they probably DO have it, it just failed to be put on the site. most of these places also have catalogs or brick and mortar shops, too

shoot, i've been wanting to try spiritual guide anyway, and the other is supposed to be good, too.

maybe i'll go there, get some japanese incense and the sampler as well...

have you heard of the other types that they offer in the sample pack? i mean its only like 5 bucks for like 60 sticks thats not really that bad. i was weighing some of the sticks that i have of nag champa and they are all right around a gram (ranged from .8 to 1.3) so i figure that when a pack says such and such amount of grams thats pretty much how many sticks are in it.

with most indian incense thats about right....i know it holds true for bharath darshan. the number of sticks listed and number of grams is always roughly the same for most size boxes.

there is variation, but its a good rule of thumb for normal sized sticks.

spiritual guide is supposed to be good. i've not heard of the other, but that means very, very little. looks like its worth a try, for sure, and 5 bucks for three of those packs isnt a bad price at all.
