Yea, the old ones had their unique look and were more organised, in my opinion. These have some features the old forums didn't have, but i guess the old forums were better. No offence!
I don't like them either. I think they're ugly and confusing. I liked them how they were before - unique...now they just look like every other forum on the internet
It's certainly going to take a LOT of getting used to! Hopefully the new format will be more stable and capable of crash recoveries though.
I agree! In the old forums in the psychedelics section there were multiple forums about different types of drugs, now there is only one psychedelics section...I don't like that...And i agree, the old forums had a...Simple, unique feeling to them, now these are like all the other forums out there. Ah, it's not about the forums but who's in them right? hehe
i like the new tech but i liked the old main page layout better because you could see all the forums on one page
I don't know, the old forums were very full-featured, and so are these. I haven't been on this forum very long, really, so I'm unattached. I like these forums now. If I might get slightly off-topic, though. I've been thinking quite a bit about forums in general, and the design of them, and the interface. As well as webmail, and encryption and keyrights, turned on by default. Well, I'm going to write it, I think. Joshua
More Public SUBFORUMS will be added, didnt want to wait for them to all be in place in order to bring the forums back on line though. Re: scrolling, I love being able to dispaly a custom number of threads per page though, feature request from the old one that was only avilable though a hack Re: seeing all the forums on one page get a higher resolution, they work fine on 2048X1780
We can only anticipate in the time to come with the fine tuning talked about that these future adjustments will bring improvements that we will like.
IF Skip is running what 'I' think he is, it is easy Xaos. We now have the Extended BB Codes we talked about on the OLD forums. Like [ code] whatever code you type[/ code] like this: Code: [img]http://image url[/img
AFAIK, code is used for posting computer code, it removes all formating inside of it so that you can copy and paste it. For a listing of all the currecnt vBcodes supported see Here!
Ehhh I go both ways with this new layout, the mouse over effect is nice, but some stuff I don't dig.. but you can't please everyone all the time can you.. I still wish I could drop some html/javascript in my posts,
I love the upgrade, however, things REALLY need to be more organized so that all the forums are listed without scrolling...it's REALLY annoying to have to scroll through all of the child forums to find just Psychedelics and Computers & Internet. Anywho, if you guys need any help, I've had a little more experience modding forums...so I might be able to help out with organizing things. I can see alot of flaws in the system so far, but, then again, Skip's just uploaded the entire new format a day or so ago...and he'd said that it'd be about a month before the site was fully functional again, so I'm not going to compare all of the nooks and crannies in a comparison of the new software to the old. I see you're using vB, though I would have suggested Invision...much more organized and powerful, but, meh... But, hope the transition goes well and I'll be expecting to see HF running full-throttle again by the end of the month...no pressure on you, of course. *lol*
eatsome, put your suggestions together and post em up in Suggestions...Skip is reading over it pretty much daily.
