I'm not sure. The people who want us out http://www.ukip.org/issues don't make a very persuasive argument.
It was a question raised (with angry vocal dissent - on many different/diverse sides) I recall, when the U.K. left the Commonwealth and then joined the ranks of the E.E.C. The people got their referendum - made their choice and off we went, Though times, peoples, circumstances etc. change, and a new generation has new ideals - seems the way of the life. In answer to your question however, I guess, is, it is the power of Persuasive argument, Good advertisement and the Educational awareness of public opinion ?
Possibly. But likely he is picking and choosing which country to be prejudiced towards. That would make him a bit of a hypocrite, though. Given his stance on other issues relating to prejudice. Let's be fair and see what he says (if anything).
Not just/only western Europe (I didn't even say that btw ). But they for sure. But not just every other european nation. Greece should probably not have been allowed to join in the first place (at that time at least). Too bad how it went because I'm not for kicking them out now either.
I am not European, but I am down on the EU. It's just a building block for a one world government. Sad to see so many have been brainwashed into relinquishing the sovereignty of their home countries to some unelected, bureaucratic superstate that only wants more power for itself.
Maybe Greece would have been OK if they hadn't been part of the Euro. Hard to say. Anyway, the right wing have gained more seats in the European Parliament, and a lot of them are Euro sceptics. My guess is that the EU could be in for a rough ride over the next few years. There's a chance that some countries, including the UK, will want to come out. UKIP who want out of Europe got the biggest share of the vote here, which doesn't exactly make me feel comfortable. Personally I see it as regressive.
Why did we let countries like Greece and Bulgaria join but not Turkey? (and no, that it is technically not on the european continent was not a reason)
Could be many reasons. For one thing Turkey had and still has human rights issues that would have prevented their entry. It seems that the Greeks 'cooked the books' - they gave a false accounting of their economic status. Not sure how that impacted on their entry into the EU, but it was significant in their becoming part of the Euro zone.
Ok. You were not very clear. Why, for sure, western Europe an add caveats/not think certain other countries, and why are you saying you would not kick certain countries out now? I think you are smart enough to understand what I mean?
I would not kick Greece out after the decisions (and actions) that have been made now. But ideally they would not have joined in the first place because the EU has certain standards/requirements (if this statement makes me an elitist so be it, but I disagree anyway) regarding (making an effort of improving) human and animal rights, economy, corruption, etc. etc. I am not an expert on every european country but Bulgaria and Greece I know should not have joined regarding some of those aspects.
Hello, Nigel. What sovereignty has the UK given up? You are an ELECECTED MEP remember. An elected mep that is supposed to be in our corner. Have you forgotten the European election already? http://www.elections2014.eu/en/top-stories/content/20140428TST45332/html/Choose-who-is-in-charge http://www.elections2014.eu/en
