...is prison rape a myth?

 

I've never been in a jail, other than as a visitor, but I'd say, for British prisons atleast, that its greatly exaggerated.

Its part of the aim to make prisons an unthinkable experience.
Yet in reality, the sort who'd end up in prison have some bizarre affinity with the culture and often talk incessantly about it.

I think, in US prisons, where life means life, and these prisoners are mixed with those on much shorter sentences, it may be a little difference.

I suppose their argument is "every hole's a goal"... uke:

 

I've never been inside but I know a few who have. In the UK none of them had any sexual harassment.

An American friend of mine did get raped in a US prison. And full power to him for being able to talk about it.

I have a feeling the ol' droppin' the soap in the shower rape is probably highly exaggerated and that it probably happens in the cell blocks a lot more...going by the stupid tv shows I've seen.

rape in pa prison system are isolated incidents and violators use objects and weapons to rape. one reason is, rape reports are more common and criminal charges leading to such are locked with evidence. offenders usually get life time RHU holding upon convictions. meaning they dont have the freedom ever in the prison to do it again, and will be locked in a single cell only let out for a shower 3times a week, in a dog pen. if they even get out at all, as new prisons build shower directly into the cell only to be turned on by control room. This may vary state to state and is in the inmate handbook upon intake..

I think it's slightly exaggerated, and apparently there are plenty that give willingly so if it does happen, sometimes it's done for different reasons than what u'd think

Just don't go to fuckin prison if u can help it..

 

I know a few guys who have been to prison and they say that rape is exaggerated but then again....maybe they say that because they had it happen and want people on the outside to think it's uncommon. One of those guys was a pretty big dude (by outside standards) and my brother told me that he knew someone who had been in prison with this guy and said he was a "punk". In any case, I've read enough accounts to think it's fairly common.

 

It happens in county jails too, I think it probably depends on who you are and how big u are too maybe. You better be either a big ass dude or not afraid to use whatever is available as a weapon. Apparently everyone gets a heart check when when they first get in but if ur small ur gonna have to prove urself extra to make people not think they can fuck with u, where if u were a big ass steroid dude people wouldn't really wanna fuck with u in the first place. This is not a good situation either cuz if u have to use weapons to defend urself u can get in a lot of trouble, lifers don't care about such things tho, they have nothing to lose since they're never getting out anyway.

 

The statistics include female prisons, with male guards who regularly humiliate the women by being overly invasive during pat-downs, and private contractors such as male cafeteria staff who trade food for sexual favors.

well if you in a dangerous prison cause you fucked up bad and you can't join a fellow skin color/race you are fucked.

if you join your whites/blacks/hispanics/whatever for protection and you live like a bitch you'll still get treated like a bitch..

put enough men in concrete walls long enough someone gonna get desperate and show you the johnson..

 

Don't get confused with jail and prison, they are very different. One is elementary school, the other is boot camp.

Most jails have cameras in the housing units that hold 30+people in each, fights broken up easier.

Prisions are different unless you are on the yard.. then you don't want to get shanked..

Walk back to your cell and 3 minutes will rip you a new asshole..

thankfully I've never been to prison, a little time in jail was enough for me.

A while back I was reading about a dude in prison who was trying to change the rape culture there. I think he was a lifer. He was threatened and attacked for being so vocal about it. He was nearly raped himself by 4 dudes in a hallway but 2 other guys came around the corner and helped him. That dude was a very, very large black dude and still not safe.

 

best weapon behind bars or concrete is knowing martial arts..

I think if I ever end up in jail I'm just gonna go ape shit on the biggest bloke there and either ruin everyone and gain respect or get sent to the hospital ward and stay there then come out and keep doing the same thing until I'm considered dangerous and kept in isolation.

I have a half brother currently in jail and he's kinda institutionalised. I've never met the bloke. Every time he's out he does something to get back in. He's apparently a pretty big guy in prison, not in stature but I've heard he's killed a few people in jail before. He was in one of Australias high security prisons in Goulburn. If I end ip in there with him in there I might have to sock his ass.

 

I wouldn't normally post this but....I'm a black belt, used to teach Tae Kwon Do, an ex-golden glove boxer, I was in the #2 ranked college boxing program in the country (the last boxing punch I ever threw was a left hoof that KOed a 3 time national champ), won quite a few martial arts tournaments, 2 time state champion martial artist, I had two different professional fighting organizations try to get me to turn pro......I would be scared to fucking death to go to prison.

 

Yes the prison fights won't be as fair as your local MMA community gigs.
