You may want to organise your answer in categories like sports, politics, entertainment, science and other.

The political winners of history, for sure. The losers will get an honorable mention, but the winners will be worshipped.

Time will tell who the winners and losers will be.

I think what he means is if you rewind to 1000 ys ago, there are only a handful of names that you could name with most people knowing roughly who you mean without having to look up online. Kings and Conqueors mostly.

So who is going to survive from this century to be in the popular venacular in 1000 yrs.

Ironically the guy most likley to top that list would be Adolf Hitler, WW2 will still be in the texts of junior high history lessons. Him and Churchill. Even today, only 70 yrs later, if you asked junior high kids in america, would they be able to tell you who the US presidents in WW2 were? But they'll be able to tell you who Hitler was.

Nobody will know who Kobe Bryant is in 1000 yrs, because over the next 1000 yrs there will be another 100 kobe Bryants. No one will know who Stephen Hawking is, because his contribution compared to Einstein, Newton and Da Vinci is miniscule

They wont know about Bin Laden or 9/11 a thousand years from now.

It will only be a handful of names, Hitler, Churchill maybe, Gandhi, Neil Armstrong.

And from the last 20 years, no one really of any consequence, Obama maybe for being the first Black president

VG I thought Hitler was dead, and this asks about those alive now.

Hitler though will be remembered, Stalin too maybe from that epoch. The current Queen of England is a good candidate from those still left alive.

If she goes on a few more years, she will be the longest ever reigning British monarch.

I don't care what happened 1000 years ago and im pretty sure in 1000 years they will feel the same way. Only difference is we have a better archive to go through than previous.
But then again, We could all be speaking marsadinian, A language not even though of yet.

you might not care about Julius Caesar but you are aware who he is. and if you really dont care about history why bother posting in this thread?

the only sports star i think will be known is jordan. like VG said there will be 100 kobe's in that time but nobody else has their name trademarked and so closely associated with the logo of a major corporation. honorable mentioned in hockey is gretzky. lombardi and ruth in football and baseball but since they arent alive not many current stars from their sports will ever be spoken of.

bush jr definitely could be depending on how the american occupation of the middle east turns out.
the only tv person i can think of is Oprah.
steven king is the shakespere of now, not comparing the two but in popularity of stories...
if anyone from movies i cant imagine anyone other than Lucas and Spielberg.
music...well there arent any beethovens but the closest is McCartney

notice how most of the people are known by just saying one name.

If the trends of today continue for a long period of time those remembered will probably be in the fields of medicine, technology and earth sciences.
