I like how rainy, windy, dark, mysterious and lonely it looks.

 

Art is an amazing thing. It can lead to all kinds of innovation. Consider the works of Charles Babbage.

This machine fit on a desktop and could do calculations using gears instead of electronics. Babbage never lived to see the next version of this:

It's turned by a hand crank and includes a printer. What we don't have is a picture of the 3rd version. It was to take up the space of a football field and would be powered by a steam engine. It would have advanced the information age by a century.

We can only wonder if that infusion of information might have prevented the dire conflicts of the 20th century. According to some predictions from the early 50s, we should already be recovering from our second atomic war!
