Thanks all! A'salt Creek took the win 247-143! arty: On a less happy note, please send prayers, good vibes, and positive thoughts out to 04 from the Rushmore Rollerz who was hospitalized tonight.
But of course! Each team has 4 blockers (one is a pivot blocker who basically assists their jammer and sets the pace) and one jammer. The jammer's job is to break through the opposing team's "pack," and the blocker's job is to stop the opposing team's jammer. The first jammer to break through the opposing team's pack is the lead jammer for that jam, which gives them the privilege of calling off the jam at any time before the clock runs out (2:00 per jam, 2 periods that are an hour long). Both jammers have to beak through the pack and skate a full lap before they're able to score points. After they compete that lap, they then earn a point for every player they pass when they beak through the pack every time thereafter. So basically, they fight through the pack, skate around the rink, break through again, skate back around. There's a lot more to the game, but that's derby 101.
Also, no word on how the girl who was hospitalized is doing yet. Word is, she took a skate to the throat. I'll probably take her some flowers and good vibes if she's still there today.
So-not as violent as chess, then? TBH,I don't know what you said either-but please accept my most hearty congratulations on realising a dream. GO MAMA! :2thumbsup::love::2thumbsup:
Right? And I didn't even mention the fact the you have to stay within 10 ft of your pack, and within 20 ft of the opposing pack at all times. Not to mention the array of penalties and different punishments for majors and minors. Go out and watch a bout in your area . Thanks for the kind words, puggy. <3
^^^ definitely. Just heard she's doing just fine. Concussions, bruises, broken bones, and sprains are really common. Skates to the throat are not. :/
