I wonder how many different species of bugs and other live animals live in that.

I think symbols should only be worn if the meaning is known and suported. And yes, Dreadlocks are a symbol.

Yeah I can respect that too. As long as the person puts out unique vibes.

But if its one of the tie-dye/grateful dead/420 people its like.. "oh look. its another unoriginal person with dreads."

pretty much any piece of clothing or hairstyle could be considered a symbol.

I used to be really into guys with dreadies when I was a bit younger but they don't appeal to me as much anymore. I still preffer guys with longer hair.

Asian chicks with dreadies dont look so bad, well...the one odon posted isn't anyway.

People take them much too seriously considering they are hair.

    fucking jackpot.

they're just a hairstyle. chill out, doesn't have to have anything to do with spirituality, down-to-earthness or trendiness. how can they be trendy when people have been rocking them forever? if you don't like dreadlocks, mohawks, or whatever else, more power to ya, but if it changes how you see someone, then you're the one with the issues, buddy.

having said that, I've got some, I love them, and loads of people come up to me to talk about them. and I do think that most of the time, they look hella cool, on almost anyone.

what I disapprove of is identifying with your dreadlocks. sure, you're expressing yourself through them, but you're still a whole person underneath. I discovered that people make a LOT of assumptions about me ever since I got them (although to be fair, many of those assumptions aren't too far off.)

No, I don't hate your dreads.
I'm just sick and tired of seeing them everywhere.
My slightly extreme remedy for this is to restrict them to certain individuals.

Anything further than this is me digging my own grave for "comical" effect.

    Dont take it personally bro
You just have no idea how many people around here wear dreads out of complete lameness
I can't even describe it, but it is definitely perception altering
