The box with the cookies and those tart-looking things has already been polished off within the last 10 minutes.

It definitely is not keto. I am keto 90% of the time, though.

There's a method to the madness. The idea centers around spiking your insulin levels about once every 6-8 days while on an otherwise low-carb / ketogenic diet, such as what I normally follow. On the days when I am not eating low carb, nothing is off limits, though I still avoid processed, packaged foods, and stick mostly to stuff that comes from the bakery. So basically on these "cheat" nights, the idea is to eat the highest GI (glycemic index) carbs you can in a 6-8 hour window to create a steep insulin spike which triggers a hormonal response that helps to burn body fat while simultaneously building muscle. This means you can eat donuts, ice cream, cake, candy, or whatever you like one night out of the week with little regard for caloric intake, as long as your diet is in check the rest of the time. During the week I eat low-carb as I normally do, and usually well below maintenance calories, so by the time my carb nite rolls around, I am already in a several thousand calorie deficit for the week. So in fact you can eat "junk" food from time to time while still getting lean and building muscle. Sounds too good to be true, but it works for a lot of people.

And yes, I am still very strict about what I eat, but now only 90% of the time as opposed to 100%. I find it also provides a nice psychological release akin to sex when I am otherwise so strict about my eating habits during the week.

This kid explains it fairly well....

this is why we have refrigerators, so we don't have to eat it all at once.

Probably nothing is as good as sex, but when you go without eating something for so long, then reintroduce it into your diet (especially something that tastes delicious), it is almost as good. Those chocolate chip cookie tarts with the huge gobs of chocolate frosting in the middle of them are some of the best things I've ever tasted... I shit you not.

    Since 12:45AM I have consumed...

    A whey protein shake
    Jasmine rice
2 lemon ginger raspberry kombucha teas
2 chocolate chip cookie tarts w/chocolate frosting
    4 chocolate chip cookies
    1 chocolate chip fudge-caramel brownie
    7 oz. turkey breast
    2 Pink Lady apples
1 whole container of Ben and Jerry's "cookie core" ice cream

Still have the chocolate cream pie to go before the night is over.

That looks like too many sweet stuff for a healthy stomach to not get at least slightly upset after eating it all in one day :p

Too much sugar, way too much sugar.

Eating anything is best in moderation. I know you seem to like new fangled diets and shit, but to actually live healthy, you need moderation. These "spikes" you are trying to achieve to attempt to fool your body in to burning fat is going to bite you on the ass in the future.

You cannot fool mother nature....or something like that.

You are playing games with your body....and health. It's gonna come back and smack ya up side the head, hopefully to knock some common sense in it. It is not rocket science to eat healthy.

It would be too much sugar only if I ate like this everyday. I work out enough, so most of the sugar is taken up by the muscle tissue. A one night carb binge fuels my workouts for an entire week. It has no lasting effects on my blood sugar, and I am back into ketosis within a day.

A little bit of junk can be good for you (physiologically and psychologically) from time to time, within reason.

Eating at a caloric deficit all week so you can binge one day a week on sweets kind of sounds like an eating disorder lol. I'm not saying you have an eating disorder, I'm sure you know what you're doing, but taken at face value it does sound an awful lot like a classic starvation/binge diet.

Yeah, perhaps if I was eating like under 1,500 calories. I eat on average 1,800-2,300 per day during the week, which for me is below maintenance but far from starvation dieting.

I've endured this phenomenon. At first I figured it was the munchies from all my zero-carb pot smoke. Most of the time I don't let it get to me. But then, the "WereHog" strikes and I turn into a sugar processing maniac. And the least little thing can kick it off or seemingly nothing at all.

On one epic occasion it was kicked off by a sip of chocolate prepared by a friend. She was trying to make the most authentic example of the sort of chocolate drink that Aztecs and Mayans guzzled. She said there couldn't be more than 1 or 2% natural sugar in it. But that sip started a chain reaction that ended after a bag of Hershey's Kisses, a box of chocolate dipped pretzels (which I normally hate), a sack of sour cream and onion chips, grocery store sushi, a pint of whole milk and half a key lime pie. I still refer to it as the time I had a pot flashback since it happened during a year when I wasn't using any (I'm only a part-time addict).
