I would have thought being in the army is one of the biggest challenges of survival!

a different kind of survival. for the most part its not a matter of life and death but a matter of keeping your personality alive.

Hmmm.. guess Texass hated me then. Two of my buddies picked a church voucher after getting pulled off the highway there along I-10, before they ran into me on the quest back east. I got pulled off somewhere near the west side before.. then again, I was 86'd out of Columbus this year.. so Texass, didn't like me. Ha, they thought a rainbow had illegal guns.

Don't bullshit me, what's do you hope to get out of this?

Life experience? Travel. Compassion? Volunteer. Survival skills? Get a job and move out.

You're not going to avoid tragedy and hardship forever girl. There's no reason to rush into it by doing something dangerous. Life is a series of rebuilding between storms. If you think you're spoiled and want to see more of the real world, that's admirable. But the way you want to go about it is as I've said in my previous post is...

A dangerous proposition and would be missing the true struggle of homelessness which is desolation and despair. You'd be camping on the street, which isn't any different from camping in the woods aside the fact that people are more dangerous than bears.

I have experience living near the street in a shelter called my home. I am of no help to the single girl that is ready to mingle with the homeless....

    urban camping...

is not a past time for the weak willed. if you're not already doing it, you're talking about it on the internet, welll you're aren't doing it right.

i've been urban camping. and i've seen some fucked up shit. i've been a part of it. and i've been a victim of it. homelessness is not a game. please do not go and try your "experiment." youre not in the right mind.

Before you take your Roots backpack out and put on your Doc Martens and throw your sunscreen in along with your Serengeti’s, you need to first of all find your common sense to pack. The world does not need another book; they need activists that make a difference. I am not sure if you are just seeking attention or are really that naive. Sheltered lives many of us have had so that is hardly a valid argument for self endangerment or indulgence and in my opinon treating the perils of those who are homeless with a lack of respect.

If you are truly concerned and want to make a difference then start with the things you can do to make a change. Find organizations, lobby groups, members of parliament, back benchers, activist who you can support for the most part and work with them to have social reform made to stop homelessness in the future.
Get an education, learn to work on the right and fund the left with not only time but money. Yeah the thing that makes the world go round. There is not one organization that can survive without it. Ideals are great but all programs and reform have to be monetarily backed. My greatest joy is earning on the right and having them pay for my work on the left.

Find members (you are 19, here you have a political voice) who support reform. You may not agree with all they support so do the research and go from there.

Homelessness is not going to go away until we remove the causes of it. It is not a matter of only building new shelters. Get involved with other ways to stop that cycle. Abuse, family support, guaranteed incomes (although that has its own issues), housing, education.................the list is endless as to what causes people to be homeless.

Use your voice and energy, not by playing at a few weeks sleepover, instead work to make a difference in a way that will hopefully in the end matter.

Included are sites to help you to start to lobby and email or state concerns. Get to know the powers that are within access to you and start to use those. It would be a far better expenditure of energy.

Someone who is homeless who does not wish to be does not need a camping buddy, they need activists that lobby for real change.
I cannot be more specific as far as individual lobby groups as I am not sure where in Canada you reside, but with your time on the net you can look those up yourself.

I grew up with some very privileged people who realise that they have had life too easy. But, never once have they said anything like this.

If you want to be constructive with your comments find, I appreciate the advice as to activism instead of homelessness. However, before you pack your roots backpack and put on your doc martens??Is this sort of superiority complex working well for you? I don't own a roots bag, I can't fucking afford it prick. I'm not some sort of suburban princess who thinks homelessness is cool.

It was unnecessary to swear. You yourself, were the one who touched on your background, not I. I assumed you would be packing.

The notion that a book is going to make a difference is my point to you. If you wish to make a difference then activism by supporting change is how it is usually accomplished. Not backpacking with your "walmart" (feel any better to you) gear into the concrete jungle.

If you react so easily to what you perceive as personal negativity or judgment to wards you, you are going to have a very difficult time on the streets. :)

You can not cure homelessness without a change and activists are the ones who make that happen, not instead of.

is that what the cock sucking technique question was for?!

its been done, and its been done by actual people who didnt have the choice to be homeless and have made it out and are now advocates for the cause.
