yeah that makes no sense. one of my family member's office is literally full of stuffed, exotic animals that he shot from all around the world just to stuff and show off. and probably had a fillet mignon that night. I find that a little sadistic.
there is no right or wrong answer, you can go around in circles with this kind of discussion. all it boils down to is when you consider a person to be a person (ie. at conception, at 8wks, at birth). im pro choice. it makes me sad to think of aborting but i believe there are situations which warrant it. hunting for sport makes me sick.
I think another confusion is that when people hear "Pro-choice" they automatically think "Pro-abortion" when really, a lot of people wouldn't get an abortion and think that it is wrong, but they still believe in a woman's right to choose. Being pro-choice doesn't automatically mean "Yay, abortion!" Personally, I don't believe that personhood starts at conception, so I have no problem with early abortions, like when you use the abortion pill. Later-term abortions kind of make me uncomfortable though.
Ok, at the risk of being burned at the stake, I'll step up... I'm pro-choice, as long as abortion isn't being used as a form of birth control, i.e. every time you don't feel like using a condom and you accidentally get pregnant. If you honestly and truly believe the baby would better off just not being brought into this world at all, or if the pregnancy/childbirth will endanger the mother's life somehow, then I support it because I feel it is a mercy killing.. I see it the same as how I believe terminally ill and suffering animals should be euthanized. Same goes for medically assisted suicide for those who want it. I am absolutely, positively 100% against hunting for sport of any kind. Senseless killing to the utmost degree. Ideally for me, no one would hunt for any reason whatsoever in this day and age when you can buy meat at the grocery store... but if you hunt for food and you don't waste anything and you are respectful of the earth then I guess I can't really complain. Yes, I realize the hypocritical aspects of my opinion, but I can't really explain it any better than the fact that I seem to value human and animal life almost equally, where most others I guess, do not.
oh, i know their's a difference. which is why i say pro abortion, not pro choice. clarifies which people i think are awful.
yes...and their hides are much bigger and make better "if the shit goes down and the heat gets turned off" blankets.
