The question didn't specify where he was starting. What if he can start at the store? That should delete one of his trips. unless a trip with distance 0 is still technically a trip. The question isn't very clear. For the second it's 1600 = 40^2. All of those numbers were squares.
this particular test gave me a 131. of course, all online IQ tests are complete bullshit. any test that claims to give you an IQ score in 20 questions is complete bullshit. although one thing about this test that gives it some credibility is the fact that i assume they automatically deduct 20 points if you click the "continue" button in that ad in the middle of every question. i never took a legitimate IQ test. by the time i was school-age, there were about a thousand other standardized tests so i guess they figured an IQ test would be superfluous. anyway, 82 isn't borderline retarded. it's barely more than one standard deviation below average. i'm pretty sure two standard deviations, or 70, is what has been considered retarded as far as IQ scores go. of course we remember. that was like an entire week of sitting in the multi-purpose room and filling in scantron sheets. i think the whole point was that the army wanted to know who was able to perform hours of boring, pointless tasks without going crazy.
TopNotchStoner Thanks. I knew it would be something like that... or prime numbers etc... ...I'm not that good with numbers, though. I tend not to have the patience to figure it out the extremely long way around...
I remember some sections on engine repair and things like that, but what sticks out in my mind the most is the section with a diagram of a weirdly shaped box, folded out flat, and then multiple choice pics of what the box would look like folded up and made into a box. It's funny the things that you remember compared to the things your forget.
My parents thought I was really odd as a kid, which I was, so they had me tested and I scored extremely high to the point I was labeled an underachiever for most of my life. Fuck those tests, I already have enough numbers in my life.
That's what I remember the most about IQ testing, except it was with tangible blocks and triangular shapes. They would drop a bunch of pieces in front of me, show a picture and say 'make this'.. ok, 15 seconds later.. that's it? I was always good with exploding things in my mind and seeing how it goes together, that's what I do on a daily basis now. But IQ testing is lacking in many ways, in other words what actually matters to the overall human experience. Or how to handle stressors. But I digress.
the way i remember it, about 75% of it was the same as every other standardized test they made us take. i think those parts you mentioned were still in there too. but the part i remember most was one where you were supposed to basically read a number on a chart, then fill in the bubble that corresponded to the number on the answer sheet, and the idea was that they were testing how fast you could read a chart. but, the chart was so simple that you could read it faster than you could color in the bubbles, so really all it was testing was who was fastest at coloring in a scantron form.
and then there was einstein great spirits have always encountered violent opposition from mediocre minds.
i manipulated the link ...actual score was 125 at least 2 questions were answered with guesses due to attention span problems
