The thing is I need some lists of ideas of what I should check out and buy. Only thing I'm surely going to get is products for the mind. Help me out with some lists, peeps.
My first recommendation would be to not go to GNC. They sell inferior quality supplements marketed as top of the line. Their vitamins are relatively low quality and full of artificial binders. Their whey protein and BCAA powders are full of soy and artificial sweeteners. You would be better off going to The Vitamin Shoppe if you have one nearby. They have a much wider selection of better brands. Or better yet, try to find something local if you can.
Hey U just reminded me. There is a vitamin shop I saw near. Never been in it yet, but will check it out thanks to U refreshing my memory. :artist:
I want my mental side to be keener in as many aspects there may be. I need be more focused when I talk to people. Haha, this is coming from a guy diagnosed with a mental illness called paranoid s. I had been believing that people were out to get me, is how I got understandablely diagnosed. However I don't see these people out to get me anymore.
GNC sucks. As soon as you walk in they try and sell you their own brand shit. "hey man you need a multi to go with that powder???!?!!?1" "hey you need some fish oil to!!!" "hey what pre workout are you using!?!?!" "this one right here is on sale for 90 dollars bro you gotta get it!!" The only reason ill go there once in a blue moon is because they send me a 40% coupon in the mail every few weeks and if i cant find the thing m looking for on bodybuilding ill go to GNC. Luckly we have a few within 5 miles of me so I go to the one where the guy is like cross eyed and old and just sits behind the counter and leaves you alone.
Yeah, I went there once about a year ago and will never go back. There is a GNC right around the corner from me. I went there because I had ran out of BCAA powder and didn't feel like running across town to the place I normally go. As soon as I walk into the store the sales rep asks me what I am looking for, so I told him. So he directs me to the BCAA powders, then immediately starts pushing GNC's brand of whey protein on me, saying that the BCAAs "won't do much good unless I am eating 5 small protein meals a day," and that their whey protein powder is a good way to get in my daily requirement of protein. Instead of arguing with the moron, who didn't look to be in any physical shape to be offering health or fitness advice, I simply said "yeah, ok," and proceeded to look at their selection of BCAA powder. I noticed all of them either contained soy lecithin or some nasty artificial sweetener like aspartame or sucralose. So as I am leaving the store, the guy asks me "You didn't find what you were looking for?" I told him that all their BCAAs contain soy, and then he immediately starts arguing with me saying they don't contain soy but soy lecithin (as if it is called soy lecithin for the heck of it), which he claimed is "different than soy." Then he proceeds to read the back label on one of the containers, which clearly states "contains soy." He acted embarrassed and kind of pissed off that I dared to challenge his "expertise." Needless to say, I haven't been back, and I don't plan on going back. Horrible store. I wrote them a shitty review on Google right after this.
You're not going to find any magic pill that will instantly improve your mental health or make you think more clearly. There are some things that might purport to do this, but diet is really the number one thing. Most people notice a complete turn around in their mental health once they eliminate certain foods which contain gluten and refined sugar. I used to suffer from terrible brain fog, anxiety and depression until I changed my diet. Now those things are in the past. I think a diet high in healthy fats is especially good for improving cognitive function. The brain runs so much better once you eliminate most carbs and eat more fat, because then its primary fuel source shifts from glucose to ketones, which are the ultimate brain fuel. So if I had to recommend any one supplement to enhance cognitive performance, it would probably be MCT oil. Coconut oil will even suffice if you cannot find MCT oil.
Fuck Dr. Oz. All he does is peddle the latest gimmicks. His show is basically one big infomercial. Some of his info is good, but he also promotes a lot of the outdated conventional wisdom that has hurt many people's health.
Sounds like a classic GNC experience. I stick to buying online just to avoid their sales people. When I was 15 or so they ripped me the fuck off so I got pissed and filled a whey container up with nesquik and put a little of the protein powder on top and returned it for another one and I kept the other protein in a huge baggy lol so got two for the price of 1. I felt a little guilty about it but its not really anything comapred to how badly they rip people off.
