any hippie that calls himself a hippie, truly isent hip. any "hippie" that trys to be something other then them selfs, arnt hip. once someone deems themself "hippie" it instantly limits them, they are limited to being a hippie, and what ever eles they want to call themselfs. im a vegan potsmoking hippie! no, all you are is limited to those 3 things, thats all you are. i just am, i dont limit myself by saying, i am this, im that. like seriously why not just be a little part of everything and just floe with the universe?? thats why i say hippies dont exist, because if ur a true hippie, u never call urself a hippie and limit yourself and label , and if u call urself a hippie, your not even, because ur trying to be something other then yourself, your limiting yourself. Yeah, fairies wear boots and you gotta believe me
That kind of reminds me of what one of my friends said to me when I first started smoking weed and claimed to be a pothead. She said "real potheads don't call themselves potheads" So I said "So by saying that you just implied that YOU are a 'real pothead' and therefor are not, by your own logic." lol, all ball busting aside, I like your point. Fuck labels. Stop trying to get your square peg in these round holes.
I approve this message. It's gone from being an insult to a self-referential celebration, such as 'bitch' or 'nigga' -- but what the fuck are you celebrating, really? That you're a stereotype? Why the fuck would you celebrate that?
Yeah well, christianity hasn't done it for me either despite the good values I was raised with (not being sarcastic here by the way). But I've learned to not look at christians, or hippies for that matter, as christians but 'just' human beings. You can hate the group but not hate the individual for what the group has done/stands for, especially not christians because the horrible past of their religion (although technically protestants have a different religion and history since they've split with the catholic church) and neither because the majority around your place are closeminded assholes. Same with hippies, hippies and christians are both unpractical labels to judge or portray your fellow man unless you're talking about a walking stereotype. They can just be so very different, some christians don't even believe in christ or hell when you ask them and some hippies are as intolerate to squares as muslim extremists. It just doesn't mean much at first instance. Stereotypical hippies can piss me off as well, by the way. As wel as some christians, but my opinion on them is really based on the individual and not the label. Of course I too am not totally free of prejudice but I think twice to poo on a group as a whole and be pissed at a protestant christian because of their religion's catholic origin is quite wrong from my point of view. Same with being pissed at catholic christians because some of their priests are pedo's.
oooh, Gangster Diciples. Folk set nigga! jk jk jk Edit: Seriously though, the pitchfork is the coolest gang sign.
Hippie can mean the same as Jock for example. It's not limiting the person completely, it just explains a big part in their life that they are dedicated to. Our society complains that people can't possibly be hippies in this day and age. One may agree or disagree to that, but it's always a never-ending argument. Personally, I think people people should call themselves what they want. Even if they are *fake*, they are at least attempting to become something unique. Just because the government and people of the 60's called some of their people *hippies* doesn't mean people of 2010 can't. And floes my man, This sounds just like the hipster thing going around these days. It'll never stop, I personally think we all have one body, one life, and we should do what we want and call ourselves whatever we please.
I don't like neo-hippies because I think instead of trying to replicate a movement that already flowered and died you should get in touch with current times. What socioty needs now is more indivuality. Not the same old shit. because TPTB will take everything tha6t was meaningful and beautiful and turn it into corprate shit. Like they did with hippies, like they did with punks. You can't market individuality. This is your weapon. Fucking USE IT
Alot of people out there find that generation a lot more appealing then this one... and I'm going to have to agree with them. Its not replicating per-say. You have to remember that alot of the so-called * flower-children * out there come from a family who have been hippies for generations. People take pride in that life, and I don't see anything wrong with that. It's history, sure it is, but history repeats itself. A lot of history that is still going on today is still welcomed into our society, but why not hippies? Individuality is what one makes it to be. It's not another person telling another to be individual in life. Its what that person chooses to become.
Can't argue with that... Don't look at me like that! Just wait, I'll get back to flameing in a moment, I'm sure.
True happiness... is not attained through self-gratification, but through fidelity to a worthy purpose. Helen Keller do what you want, say what you want, think like you want, be who you want, call yourself what you want, dress like you want, but as long as what you want, has a worthy purpose other then yourself
I really do not like when people call me an hippy. I like tiedye, I love the idea of peace, but I am not going to call myself one. it seems disrespectful to those who lived int hat time period and fit the label. labels are silly. I would rather just be who I am, then have a label held over my head. I am who I am. and it does drive me a tiny bit batty to see those young kids calling themselves hippies, and yet then wanting to bash in the next persont hat fucks them over. I am an peaceful person, and a good person, but I wouldnt call myself an hippie, or an shaman, or any other label that someone else may want to put on me. I am just me. I dont care what other people call themselves to clarify. couldnt care less. I do believe there are a few hippies left , and that is a ok with me. but I dont want to be called one, bc of the way I think or the way I dress. One day I could be wearing tie dye, the next holey jeans, hte next something else, it has nothing to do with clothes. It is the mindset. but even then. Idont think I fit it to the tee. being called an hippy is one thing, but if I can choose what I want to be called, I think there are more fitting terms, environmental, conscious, believer in different realms, spiritual. etc.
I just say hippie because it is either than a 20 minute monologue about who I am. If the foo shits. Peace Out, Rev J
Categorization is the process in which ideas and objects are recognized, differentiated and understood. Categorization implies that objects are grouped into categories, usually for some specific purpose. Ideally, a category illuminates a relationship between the subjects and objects of knowledge. Categorization is fundamental in language, prediction, inference, decision making and in all kinds of environmental interaction. There are many categorization theories and techniques. In a broader historical view, however, three general approaches to categorization may be identified: * Classical categorization * Conceptual clustering * Prototype theory so i suppose hippie or neo hippie. ur just a catagory.
