So, When asked "if you could go back to anytime and live life from 19 and on when would it be?" I've always answered with 1969 a few days before woodstock. For those of you who grew up and enjoyed those days would you trade living in 2016 to go back and relive those days with no knowledge of the future?

    fucking naive new-age hippies, clueless

19, perfect draft age, 6 month life expectancy in theater, yup, good fuckin' times, dude, good times

    people always romanticize the past.
You seem to forget about the war, civil unrest and violence that permeated the decade.
Plus why the fuck would anyone want to go back to a time when you could see your friends, neighbors and kids die on the 6 o'clock news every night.
A guy my dad worked with found out his son had been killed because he saw it on the news before he got official notice.

yeah, they was some fun times all right......
yes a lot of positive social change ultimately came out of that decade, but at a heavy price in many ways.

No. I'd be back in Vietnam - unless it was the month of June when I was home on leave. :smoke out:

I was 17 in 1969 and when my friend Ritchie offered to drive me up to Woodstock in his hearse, I said no because I knew my father wouldn't let me go. Sigh.

I'd go back to 1967. I was 16 then & for 5 years lived in various East Village communes . This was the time that Eastern religions started becoming popular here in the West. I remember that you could attend to a yoga class for like 50 cents. I can't begin to tell you guys how awesome that whole scene was. It really was a magical & mystical time, Even though I was so young I knew that I was living through a historic era. It was just way beyond cool.
I think you still get some of those vibes at Shakti & Bhakti Festivals out in California.

If I went back I'd want to take my computer though, lol.

but that isn't the specific question.
the specific question is "would you want to go back to 1969 as a 19 year old."

If I could go back to 1969 I would look up family. My Dad would be 29 and his Dad would still be alive. Dad was drafted 65' thru 67', Army.

    Nah.

The late 60s was a historic period because so many people were fighting so many different things - the vietnam war, the oppression of blacks and women, conventional culture itself.

The world is still very far from perfect. There are still machines to rage against. Make your own generation magical.

Wasn't alive then but from all I've read on the Hippie era, I think I'd prefer to be in San Francisco Bay Area from about 1964- mid 1967.

I'm old. Fuckinay I'd go back, although I was 29 in '69. Any old person that says they wouldn't want to "go through all that again," is lying through their lunch-hooks!!

Didn't take my first acid until '69.
