Yea but I pointed out hte similarities of Gnosticism and Buddhism, and even more Jainism. Perfect Gnostics and the Buddhist Sangha both don't, procreate nor have sex at all. That is their relationship on sex, the same with jains. The gnostics beleive in Reincarnation of the monad through matter, with karmic influences, Buddhists believe in the same thing, as do Jains, untill concious enlightenment. I said all this you might've just misread a little. Plus I was talking about Gnostic thought, Not Christian of the Old testament or new. Its only Christian if you view the first written gnostic accounts to be a springboard from the Mystery Cults into Christianity. Im not downplaying at all, I just wrote a few paragraphs and said nothing at all really. Just overlying tenants. I know the vast degree of knowledge both of these religions and ideas have. As for righteous anger Im not really sure of the Gnostic approach to violence, but the Cathars promote A-himsa and non violence, yet every gnostic sect has different minor viewpoints on things. As for Xianity Violence is key and what about Buddhist monks? That practice Shaolin Martial arts? Complete control of Mind, body, and soul. Is that what you mean by righteous violence. Or do you mean more of Righteous for god Jihad crusade type thing.

Plus whos to say Jesus said "me"? That could be a thousand year old misprint for all we know, with the intent to confuse and control. Who knows if the translator missed it a little, and Jesus meant "my way" or something. Or my idea. You know you can't trust little things like that in scripture.

Gnosticism is some cool stuff... I think it'd be much easier to be a christian in today's society if it was a bit more to what the gnostics practiced.

 

Yea especially in these modern days of free speach, sex, and drugs. Except Gnosticism doesn't really cater to morals, thats for each person to decide. Which would mesh very well with the whole Legal system of crime and punishment. The law keeps you straight, will religion keeps you enlightened. A total separation of church and state.
