I was just listening to the Chili Peppers' "One Hot Minute" and wondering how it would sound on something... Lmao. I'm shallow... I know. Anyway, I think that aggressive sounds could easily ruin the mood - no not the mood the psychiatric well being of the person tripping.

to some extent, yes. but i wouldn't really consider tool to be super aggressive in that way. now death metal would probably ruin a trip.

 

I read, but did not finish, the Anthony Kiedis autobiography and he discusses taking and enjoying Acid in that. I don't think of them as a psychedelic group but the influence permeates through their music from time to time. I don't recall ever tripping to one of their albums, but there was an EDM remix of I believe Otherside they used to play at raves like a decade ago or so.

Tool is amazing music for tripping. Some of the band members are into Sacred Geometry and they explore that in their music, which I think the patterning of their sounds lends itself well to a psychedelic experience. The drummer uses alot of tribal sounding rhythms and the singer, has an amazing ability to balance masculinity with anima, juxtaposing alot of themes in the music. They have songs discussing spirituality, connectedness, consciousness, etc.
