    What foolish statement?

I said (Not in exact words, but to summarize): I don't associate with shady women. I hang around nice women. I would also like to add that I hang around good guys and don't associate with bad guys.

Then when you said I must lack a social conscious because I don't take responsibility for some women being shady, I basically said,( again, not in so many words): That is fucking retarded.

Your view is not how I read our dialog.

I see yours as centered on yourself and not others.

While such anecdotal renderings are sometimes interesting, they do not furtherer the general topic.

Those men and women who do not promote ideas of equality are a part of the problem and not part of the solution.

All moral people will demand equality or affirmative action to reach it.

    Oh, that.

You know, I forgot what this thread was originally about until I went back and read the OP just now.

I also read through this thread and I didn't see one single hard fact or statistic (because it wasn't needed, seeing as the original topic didn't introduce a serious debate concerning general equality, but rather an interesting concept).

This thread consists solely of anecdotal evidence, so my comment was not misplaced, or foolish for that matter.

so I thought it would be fun to go to this thread and do exact as the original post suggests and imagine women saying the same things about men that men say about women.

Wow, Meli... brilliant idea and the hilarious thing is... those things actually become (imo... about the thinking w their little head part, for example), more true in that sense... but anyways, that's neither here nor there...

I just wanna say looks like you are trying to talk logically with someone who probably has an agenda, but regardless of whether that is the case or not, looks very much like they would not see logical or common sense if it slapped them in the face. And furthermore, this GreatestIAm person REALLY seems to me to be up on his high horse and extremely arrogant and conceited.... may truly be the most pompous person I have ran into on here... and that is saying something! :2thumbsup:

Basically... am I even getting this straight?- You are not for equality because you are not trying to help out "shady women"? Don't get it at ALL. There are so many things and people and causes to care about.... and as I personally wouldn't hesitate to help out in any way I CAN any person who is sincere (meaning if some "shady" character, of either gender, came to me wanting to make positive changes in their life, I would offer whatever help I could give them...), I typically find it a more useful endeavor to spend my time (we only have 24 hours in a day afterall and a third of that is spent sleeping!), to spend my time and energy caring about my small corner of my world- specifically, my family- but also friends, neighbors, strangers in real life, strangers online... basically try to brighten everyone's world a little bit when I run into them by being a decent, kind, respectful person... but personally spend my energy teaching my son to be a kind, respectful, polite, happy, non-judgmental person.... and to call it selfish (or whatever word he used, basically meaning that...), to not be going out of one's way to help all the shady characters out there... like it is self centered, well, just one counter-example- if a person is spending their time teaching their children how to be loving, respectful citizens of this planet----that goes WAY outwards... you help to create beautiful, loving people....then they turn around and create more beautiful loving people... and in big ways and small ways, that trinkels down to effecting a great many people and can actually change the world.

To the OP- "GreatestIAm" (what kinda name is that anyways? Are you claiming you are God????)---- in what ways do you believe women should be helping out all the "shady women" out there? What are your suggestions???
In what ways are you out there assisting all these shady characters- of both genders? Examples, please! :) Thank you!

I'm actually confused by his posts directed at me since I went back and reread the thread. Its like he's playing the devil's advocate just for the sake of creating an argument, because in the beginning of the thread he had nothing but nice things to say about women. Then as soon as I jumped in and basically said exactly what he was saying, that most women are wonderful people, I was completely in the wrong for offering anecdotal evidence instead of hard facts and figures...about what, exactly???? this was never even meant to be a serious debate about gender inequality.

Anywho, that really confused me lol.

I agree COMPLETELY with you about doing what you can to improve your own life and the life of people you come into contact with. Movements are inspired, they aren't forced - they're inspired by people who serve as an example to others, who in turn provide inspiration to even more people until eventually you have a big enough group of people to sway opinion and policy on a bigger level. True gender equality will happen because people like you and I teach our sons how to be kind and generous and nice, and because we teach them to be proud of being men and to respect women as equals. It will come because people with daughters teach their daughters the exact same thing. I've always said the best thing anyone can do to change the world is to decorate their corner of the universe :)

Do you have a hard time taking it seriously when a bunch of white men want to sit around and complain about equality?

So things are going on as they are supposed to now. Personally, I'm discussing people. Respecting women that are not your equals does work for the understanding about respectability that counts for a good war to suffer about. No idea how it is supposed to be Sane for me to discuss it that way,:willy_nilly:

I think it is that everyone concludes me to be a sadist, and now I am isolated and lonely.

Thinly veiled insults are pretty lame.

And I was discussing ideas...can you read? :)

And to Meli... this whole thread is very confusing and weird to me!

And to answer your question...yes, a bunch of white men complaining about equality is very often both annoying and funny to me.
