If two guys with Jetpacks left the North Pole and South Pole simultaneously, followed the arc of the world's curve without deviation and met at the equator, who would be upside down to who, allowing for one of them to flip around to meet the other face to face. I don't know. I'm trying to visualise it and I'm confused.
they'd both be flat jetpacks burn fuel quick and neither of them would have made it more than a few miles from the start
This is a hypothetical question and assumes that there is no technological impediment. It's a thought experiment. Forgot to add they are in low orbit
Maybe I just posed a stupid question in clever terms but I'm not convinced. I'm gonna sphinx about it.
Correct. Theyd be facing opposite directions at the equator. Who is " upside down" is based on what you have decided is up
What if they fly their jet packs horizonta? I know when I get my jet pack my feet won't be facing the ground cause that's whack and down force no no ill be horiztoal getting every bit of aero I can to go faster. I swear people don't think sometimes.
I don't get it. They would just be face-to-face. One of them wouldn't flip so that his feet were pointing at the sky. If both of them began crushing through the center of the earth feet first, the mantle of the Earth blowing away beneath their feet, and they met in a perfectly straight line with the bottoms of their feet together, neither of them would feel "upside-down." There is no upside-down or right-side up in space, so long as your head is tilted away from the center of mass. "Right-side up" is a dead giveaway. It's the "right" side. It should be called "downside-up." But downside-up makes no sense, because there is no such thing as "down" in an infinite spatial plane. There's no reason you couldn't ever travel any direction you choose in zero gravity. We're not really right-side up; we're just "away from the center of the most massive local object." And yet we ourselves have a center of mass. The only directions I know of in space you can't travel are towards and away from yourself.
If that was the case and they negated gravity. they would simply follow a horizontal path from the poles and drift off into space. With a bit of luck. they may meet up on the moon.
