If this doesn't prove there's an Obama conspiracy, I don't know what will.

From that sentence fragment i am assuming that you are suggesting that the president being black is not a step in the right direction because it is simply race and a step forward in the right direction for political leadership should be about merit and not colour.

Well if that is what you are saying, let me rephrase what it is that i think Skizm was saying.

I think Skizm was saying, that the opportunity for people to gain leadership based on merit and not on race (e.g. being white) is a step forward in the right direction.

That is what he was saying (I think). I was saying that Obama was not elected because of merit, but because he was the lesser of two evils (something Skizm also agreed with).

    definitely at least partially.
    yes.
    NO.

Actually, it was the young people voting for the black man/against the old conservative/for the first hopeful candidate since Jesse Jackson (who was basically running on "we can make MLKj's dream true")/'to be a part of history'.

Young voting had the biggest turn out ever, and the biggest increase in turn out of any category (aside from newly granted suffrage) ever.
The African-American voting was barely higher than the 2004 elections.

I think voting someone in because they were the lesser of two evils is based on merit.
