Speaking of private prisons (the prison industrial complex) and accusations of rape after drinking, I always wondered why a women is responsible for her actions if she makes the choice to drive a vehicle after drinking and will be convicted of homicide if she kills someone driving drunk but the same women is not responsible for her actions and is therefore unable to consent to sex at the exact same level of intoxication???

Similarly, a 15 or 16 year old freshman or sophmore in highschool cannot consent to sex with their 18 or 19 year old junior or senior boyfriend/girlfriend, yet if that same 15 or 16 year old committs murder they can be tried as an adult.

Just wondering is the woman, at the exact same level of intoxication responsible for her actions or not??? Similarly, is the 15 or 16 year old a child, or an adult???

The answer seems to be a woman is either responsible fo her actions or she isn't depending on what's in the best interest of the prison industrial complex, and a 15 or 16 year old is either a child or an adult depending on what's in the best interest of the prison industrial complex.

This is a good question to ask, depending on the answer, to figure out if feminism is mostly a movement to help women, or is it mostly a movement to hate men.

I read your souces and it doesn't say a black female is statistically more likely to be in jail than a white female. All it says is:

As of December 31, 2009 the female prison population of federal and state prisons in the United States was 113,462.[64] Within the US, the rate of female incarceration increased fivefold in a two decade span ending in 2001; the increase occurred because of increased prosecutions and convictions of offenses related to recreational drugs, increases in the severities of offenses, and a lack of community sanctions and treatment for women who violate laws.[65] In the United States, authorities began housing women in correctional facilities separate from men in the 1870s

There is a statistic that african americans have a higher rate of incarceration in relationship to their population than caucasions. However, if the population of white people is several times greater which i'm guessing it is then there could be more white people in prison as an entire population.

And there is a statistic in the article that over 92% of the prison population is male, but I suppose that can be explained by male privilege????

Newbie here, so I may be missing some context, sub-text or what have you.

Compassion is like an infectious disease: it's contagious.
Compassion we show ecourages others to show compassion.
Compassion may or may not reduce violence, but I believe it self-evident that acts of compassion are always in our self interest. This is probably not provable empirically, but experiential knowledge is more appropriate here.
Compassion is a core value in all religions: Judaism, Buddhism, Christianity, Hinduism, Jain, and probably others, including Catholicism. I doubt this to be coincidence.

Well compassion means to suffer with. Which is why we continue to suffer. Sensitive is sufficient to make sense of things.

A correct rendering of the Latin root! It is good to be radical, that is to start at the root and it is wise to remember that it is some way from root to fruit. Also that even the original meaning was most likely metaphorical, in the sense of sympathy, or, better, empathy.

Lanuage is fluid. Meanings shift into new nuances. I think compassion nowadays carries connotations of humaneness, concern, solicitude, pity, and love.
