Hi, I just found this forum and cool ! I was thinking how could we promote barefooting to more people ? I started barefooting when I got the idea to try and see if I could make my feet a little tougher for walking on stuff like the bumpy beach parking lot and also to see if the one curled in toe I have from shoe damage would maybe straighten out and it took a wile but it did quite a bit. What I never expected was how in a very short time it was like I was no longer barefoot or like the awareness of I don't have shoes on completely went away. That thought of "wait stop before you do that or go there you need your shoes" just disappeared. Explaining how that happens or that it does happen is how I would like to help promote barefooting. I think the big breakthrough was when I got the idea to keep my shoes and flip flops in the trunk of the car so that way if I absolutely needed them they would be with me instead of a 'wait stop' get my shoes before going out but what happened is that really broke that life long habit of get up get dressed and put your shoes on because they were not in the house. When I started the day barefoot it was much different then taking my shoes of then going barefoot cause that feeling of now your missing something was there. I would like to do a better job of explaining how in a very short time being barefoot no longer feels like a disability and that feeling of I am missing something goes away but its not so easy. I made up the screen name TheGreatShoeScam cause I was thinking how I used to spend $100 on a pair of sneakers every month or two and that since I have been going barefoot for almost 4 years now I have saved thousands of dollars, my savings account would be smaller for sure. Shoes are a great big scam, if only more people knew they really don't need them.
Because I would always forget to put on some old ones if it was raining or if I was doing something that was going to wreck them such as yard work. Maybe it was every 2 or three months but still.
How about promoting barefoot golf. What a bummer it would be to wear shoes walking around this place.
So far I think, as you can see from some of my topics, that the theme that shoes ruin your feet is the best way to promote barefooting, Shoes causing foot problems, ammertoes, blisters, bunions, corns and calluses, heel spurs, claw and mallet toes, ingrown toenails, toenail fungus, and athlete’s foot... All the stuff that make people be like feet are gross. Its like a bad feedback loop, shoes made my feet gross so I hide them in shoes that make them more gross so now I really don't want to take my shoes off. That gives me an idea for my next topic, new barefooters take before and after pictures to show how feet get better once you ditch the shoes.
