Just curious to know what your ideal government/society would be like; since everybody obviously agree's that things need to change. Whether it be communism, socialism, democracy, monarch, something old and forgotten, or something completely new and made up. How should our world be governed to provide the most freedom and protection for its inhabitants, considering that we all know right from wrong yet some of us still lack the morals and maturity to behave that way.

a real democracy would be nice, but that's asking too much.

Communism is not a form of government, neither is socialism. They are, however, social-systems. There will be no 'state' in a communist society, and as such, it can not be a "form of government".

I prefer a worker-controlled society where the means of production (such as factories), are owned by the public.

Id like a government which is concerned with the whole world, not just my country. Thats why i like the idea of the European Union...i like the idea of countries being united and finding solutions to the worlds problems. Obviously i mean an alliance here, not bullying, which is what we have now.

My government would be liberal...be especially concerned with the young and their needs, and with the future of this planet. Infact itd be a kind of liberal-greenparty combo, which would welcome all suggestions and listen to what we want while striving to come up with the so desperately needed solutions to pollution, world hunger, cruelty...

But most of all my government would consist of people who are fully human...who feel empathy, hurt, anger, pain...who do not spend their days babbling about the world economy and petrol prices and pension schemes. Theyd discuss the things that really matter in this world...which are nature...and every single one of us.

What can i say, im an idealist:p

P.s-monarchy? Whats the point? Put care in the hands of people who are deliberately not human, who are set aside from us...this whole idea of people being better than other people...Jesus this is the 21st century....next well be teaching the 17th century "great chain of being" in schools...in which kings are closer to the angels and to God than carpenters are, and women are not even given a place on the hierarchy. Sorry, am i ramblin? Its just the whole idea of kings and queens is a joke to me.

  13. a representative council selected by an independant council that is completly representative of the population, same % of each minority, same % of each economic strata, same % of everything, a truly representative government, 3 levels, national, state, and county, cities above x population are their own counties

100 people on county councils, 500 on the state council, 1000 on the national council

these people are put through a 6 month education process (the last 6 months of the last groups term) and remain in term for 6 years, city, state and federal are staggered

it works like jury duty, and if you are conscripted into government service you are guaranteed a job upon return to society

the people are selected by a computer

and the economy is socialistic, socialised medicine, free education, and farmers are subsidised by the government so food is free for the people also

you can also write a grant for anything, but you are held accountable for what you get the money for, if you get 5000 dollars to write a book you will write that book or you will go to government prison and work off that 5000 dollars in the field of writing

there would also be debtors prison as a system for people to get out of debt, it would actually be government admisnistered work camps where people would be paid fair wages to work off their debt while incurring minimal living expenses (the camps would be eco-friendly sustainable)

guns would be legal but regulated, they would be restricted much the same way cars are in this culture you would have to take classes, then you would have to shoot with a liscensed gun owner until you were ready to take the test, the test would be something on the order of 20 trips to a range over the course of three months wherin the examiner would check accuracy, technique, and safety

the courts would be audited, there would be long term juries who were educated in the law and had great general knowledge as well as being empathetic people, it would be a well paying job and would be a lifetime position for those who qualified

lawyers would also be audited often for ethics with and without their knowledge

doctors would be paid based upon number of people saved as opposed to number of degrees held (the ratio would be adjusted dependant upon the field as that in some fields there are more deaths and every 2 years there would be an adjustment of the ratio as health is an evolving thing)

I know I've missed something, but that is as of now my ideal government, the only question I can find is who watches the watchers because really everything else is audited

and yes the taxes would suck, but since the people do not have to pay for food, medical, or college (or trade school if they so choose) I'm thinking that would probably be okay with most people.....

I reckon we should do away with seperate country governments and have 1 central government lead by inpartial leaders.

I'm thinking aliens, seeing as I can never see any human being leading this planet and not favouring a particular group in some form.

Or an AI, like in the game Deus Ex if anyone has played that.

Hey KBlaze, long time no see. Hey Maxi, howdyoudo.

I think if we stopped using money or barter or any sort of bean-counting, that's all that's necessary. Everything would reorganise itself around that. Government couldn't work without money. People in responsible positions would be there as a service to those they serve, those they are responsible for, not as a service to themselves, to earn more money, you know.

I dunno if I should go into a whole big attack on the bean-counting most people take for granted cos most of you on this thread seem to be on the right track already:)

If anyone feels that bean-counting is necessary, challenge me and I will accept. I feel confident because my good buddies KBlaze and Verseau Miracle are here:)

No government like no government:D Like it:)

Instead of an AI, Cerberus, how about a shared intelligence, kinda thing. If there were a simple system to let people know where skills/goods were and where they were needed, everyone could contribute to getting them there.

Hey QT, we have crossed paths b4 ay? I think your ideas are generally an improvement on what we have at the moment, but way too complicated.

We as a species just haven't adjusted to the massive increase in efficiency since the start of the industrial revolution yet. That's the main reason bean-counting is no longer necessary. Life simply needn't be a struggle any more. Nobody (in the words of the bard) ever seems to remember, that life is a game we play.

okay that sounds good so far but i think something needs to be done about celebrities making millions upon billions upon trillions for acting/playing sports, etc. when people that save lives and teach our children will never make that kind of money. i think its a waste of money. what could be done about that?
besides everyone going on strike or something???
