i have the 6plus so it's like a fablet i guess. The size was overwhelming but after a few pick ups and uses it's easy to use and doesn't seem nearly as big anymore although all my friends comment it's huge lol. with my dwindling sight though it's probably a good thing.
i won't buy an i-anything. apple said all i need to know about them when they killed the dragon. (and again when they tried to claim (/rob) intellectual property of the gui desktop that was actually created and first implimented by xerox) i know that was a long time before the i-anything, but i can't really see as they've changed their corporate phylosphy significantly since.
i remember around the turn of the millenium there being some truly tiny cell phones. nowadays iPhones seem pretty small compared to some of the bigger smartphones out there
when i was little phones still had a crank on them, instead of a dial. well some of them were still in use in some industries that did. and if you lived in a company town, like the railroad company town of norden, when that was what it was, on donner summit, you might still have had one in your house. like we did. (in the late 1960s. still. at the same time the railroad had also just built, a chain of microwave repeaters, that they called the southern pacific regional inter-tie network telecommunications. that eventually spun off, as; put those initials together as an acronym.)
Seems like it is a waste of money. What did they improve? The screen is like half an inch bigger and it is a little thinner. Nothing outstanding has been improved. They are on version, what, six, and you can not even replace the battery if you want? No sd card? And so on.... I bet they had this technology ten years ago and are choosing to slowly roll it out with each new release to maximize profits and benefit from peoples stupidity and eagerness to fit in with some gadget.
the reason apple iDevices doesn't have sd cards is because they want people to use cloud sharing between devices, which .. is admittedly kinda sketchy. smartphones and tablets should have proper usb ports .. but oh they are too thin, that's what micro-usb ports are for. MICRO USB PORTS ARE NOT MEANT TO ONLY BE CHARGING PORTS!!! obviously the people who helped design the USB specification understood this, and that's why they designed for a smaller implementation of USB that is electrically compatible, but device makers don't seem to get this!
Just do it, all this paranoia and skepticism is silly, plain and simple. Nobody gives a flying fuck what type of porn you watch, who you talk to online, what you look at online, what you post online and who you try to be online. It's a phone. =) and it does cool things.
i won't buy an iphone for at least two years, because i just used my free upgrade and i'm not going to get another phone until i get another upgrade.
The NSA cares, they care a lot but i'd definitely upgrade if its a freebie. i dont imagine what kinda phone you use is gonna make much of a difference, NSA will get the information they want regardless.
I call em Why-Phones. As in "why the fuck buy one.." Any of that spying, data robbing bullshit really annoys me. Wastebook, Why-phones, Google, all of it. Arrrrrrrghhh. I can't follow the constant upgrade bullshit. I mean yes, smartphone and dual core were big steps. But before and after that, its was all Emperor's new clothes bullshit. Phones are getting ridiculously big again too. It'll be like the 1980s next. Why can't they do a folding screen?
Lol. If it's gettin' to advanced papa, you're too old. Back to the ol' wind up dial phone for you, gramps.
i type the google captcha's diligently .. not sure if google really cares if you are a bot, they have bots of their own of course. i suspect all of the captcha's are placed in order to be really annoying and time consuming, so as to discourage the use of Tor as inconvenient. @Iamnotaman, i hear you about the data collecting. total bullshit, you can't beat it all tho, not and live a normal life. you'd have to go hide somewhere under some large trees in the forest, and even then, NSA spy satellites would probably see the shiny tinfoil hat. otherwise, i agree with how you feel about it, our personal data becoming intellectual property of these companies is total BS.
If you aren't doing anything illegal like looking at chemical warfare cook books, what are you afraid of being spyed on for? Just be another fuckin' loopy queer **** they monitor with weird ass porn searches and all that jazz. XD I really don't see the problem.
Not really. I had the internet, 3G, broadband, quad core computers, dualcore phones before anyone I know. But the latest quad core phones really dont offer anything the dual cores do. And before the Iphone 1, most of it was a load of marketing bullshit that was hyped up but didn't really do anything. And old WAP phones would cost hundreds but were complete shit. I'm sure they could do a folding screen etc but tech gets held back and revamps of previous stuff is marketed as "all new".
Yeah I don't pay any attention to any of that, I'm all about flashing LED lights and camera pixels. =p
