This week I won a flash fiction contest. I have always been more of a journalist, poet and songwriter. It's taken me over 10 years to get here with fiction, but here I am. I was soooo surprised. It's just a workshop I'm a part of and I was voted top poet sometime last year and top reviewer around the same time, but that was for poetry. This is awesome. The last two things I remember winning: 1. honorable mention in another poetry contest(got me published about 5 yrs ago) 2. honorable mention in my first poetry contest(when I was like 17) What about you? Have you put yourself out there to even be considered a winner? I know I've only entered a tiny few writing contests, let alone fiction. I recommend getting involved in a real community and not just submitting blindly to some place. Knowing the editors or judges and what they like helps a lot. But honestly I just wrote what I wrote, with no real clue of what the judges would be into. Though I've been apart of the community for awhile. It was nice. I want more stories of success or at least some of you to go out there and create/submit/allow people to experience your talent. Who knows what might come out of it.
My Best Win Ever Came About 9 Years Ago When I Bought A Fujitsu Reverse Cycle Air Conditioner, Which Entitled Me To Enter The Big Plasma Screen Giveaway. I Won The Screen And At That Time They Were Selling For $13999-00.... No Retailer In Town Had One On Display And Were Keen To Drop In And Take A Peek At It.... For $13999-00 You Only Got A Screen, There Was No Internal Tuner, So It Had To Be Fed By A VCR.... Cheers Glen.
my brother won tickets to see and meet motley crue, autographed guitar, CD, dinner at spaghetti warehouse, and limo ride to all that. He took me, so I won by proxy. I won a raffle on field day in my senior year of high school, and it included a sweet igloo cooler filled with all kinds of goodies. that was pretty sweet!
I won a video game tournement a few years ago. Got a sweet medal for that. And won an athletic competition in school. Kind of like a mini olympics. Long ago i tossed all my trophys including that one. Most of the other trophys were for bowling.
The only thing I ever won were spelling bees. *adjusts nerd glasses and pocket protector* Actually, When I was a kid, one time while we were at the mall, I entered to win a log cabin play house using my dad's information, and won.
