In this country it's the law - if you're preparing food you have to wear a hat.

So if you walk into a shop like that and they're breaking the health laws then they really don't have a leg to stand on. And if they give you any trouble, you might as well call the police/health authorities or whatever and really give them hassle.

actually no, there's no law about shoes, after all there's no danger of anything falling off your feet and onto food.

Ive never heard of that law about wearing hats if you handle food, if thats true then alot of the people who work at fast food joints around here are in alot of trouble. What bugs the hell outta me is that some places around here require shirts and shoes for health reasons BUT many of their employees do not wash their hands after using the restroom which is the law so I dont think they have any right to quote health standards when they dont practice what they preach.

Oh, damn it, I would have never expected, reactions like that, could actually happen, but now i do. It`s really mindless. Do they use their damn sick brains???

It doesn`t have anything to do with bare feet... Why, just, why..................

And Yeah, that thing about that sign... Who guarantees, anyway, that he is
really peacemaker, what if he made all of that shit?! (I`m mean Bush).
Sax machine, sorry, but I think you`re wrong... I just think that - Sept11 was all A PLAN... How, is anybody 100% sure that Al-Quaeda did it... No one has any proofs. Except the black-box.. But I don`t remember that I heard anything about that... But I don`t care... I just say my opinion...

I think I support maryfairy... why not... just think about it, just for a moment...

    MAKE LOVE, NOT WAR !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

When did YOU get so hostile?

Besides, if you want to defend a policy that is in search of a reason, go right ahead. I'm not the one who looks stupid for it -- you are. My foot fetish doesn't enter into it. My right to go about my life in the manner I see fit, without intrusion or interference from people who do not have due authority over me is what's at issue. Some pissant lying and saying that "it's the health code" when I know it's not, or some bitch Walmart manager telling me "it's company policy" and then refusing to show me that policy in writing (which actually happened to me, making very clear she was a lying bitch) are outside the bounds of civility when they try to impose imaginary rules on me. I didn't ask them to go barefoot. All I expect is respect for MY freedom to go barefoot. And if all you can do is cite "it's policy," then you mark yourself ignorant and obstinate. Fine, you can be that way. But I won't let you stop me from living how I want to live.

    Blue skies,
    -Jeffrey

Eh? I don't remember suggesting anything about Bush or Al-Qaeda in this thread, or mentioning the Twin Towers thing. All I said was that this frequent occurrence of policies against bare feet is something that only happens in america, and America is not the world, despite what much of the American media would have you believe.

For the record, the 3NS sign is a lot older than George W's term of power as far as I'm aware. And secondly, it's no government conspiracy, it's just something that businesses in America have chosen to employ, for whatever reason. And I've never seen one anywhere, having been all over Europe, but never outside Europe.

And as far as my personal views are concerned, well first of all I ran out of sympathy for those involved in the 11/9 incident because of the amount of talk that derived from it, with people treating it as if it were the first time anything like it had happened. No-one in America ever bothered to mention how sorry they felt for victims in Northern Ireland, Israel, Palestine, Pakistan, or anywhere else. Terrorist attacks have been going on for a lot longer than that. So I gave the Twin Towers a about a week's worth of sympathy, and then decided to move on. And the more people keep going on about it, especially when the likes of Bush use it as an excuse to go on a crusade against middle-eastern countries, the less sorry I'm going to feel. Now I'm not saying that the victims and their families deserved the suffering, but I don't think they deserve any more attention than any other tragedy victims have received, either before or since.

And you're right, I personally haven't seen any evidence or for that matter seen/heard/read any announcement that there IS evidence that it was Osama/Al-Qaeda, etc. It could just have easily been a set up either by some nutter who could well have been from any country, quite possibly a western one, including the USA who wanted to incite the racism, especially against muslims, that we now have today in America. But this is neither here nor there, all we've got out of it is a couple more pointless wars, that have not only given countries such as Iraq and Afghanistan more problems than they've solved, and not only brought about the deaths of a large number of British, American and other soldiers, but in order to achieve this, have cost us a substantial amount of taxpayer's money, doing things the taxpayers didn't want, when the taxpayers would rather have an improved National Health Services and Education.

Now then, this has NOTHING whatsoever to do why we should or shouldn't go barefoot in places. But the only point I was trying to make before was that this problem of policies against bare feet isn't really all that common outside North America.

You must at least believe taht if people want to do soemthing that doesn't concern anyone else then it should be allowed.

I'm not really a hippy either, I just like going barefoot. And why shouldn't I go barefoot, hippy or not?

    Well sure I do..

Like smoking pot...i think it's fine
and i think it should be decriminalized...when i smoke i do not harm anyone and neither do the barefooters...

but i do understand that it is illegal..and if i get busted then it's my fault for smoking it..not the 'man's' fault for it being illegal...u know..Let's all stop complaining and go out and do something constructive...go play frisbee, do something creative, get away from the tv and the damn computer....enjoy life!!!

i just think it's silly to complain about things that cannot be changed..the rules r the rules and we have to live with them...we have to have rules, regulation, and laws or people would be running around in complete chaoas..

sure i do think it's silly ..if u want to go barefoot..then hey...u should be able to ...
but it's a rule and a policy of many places...so that's just the way it is...

it's not the law, it's simply a question of whether an establishment makes the choice. And most places outside America choose to allow barefooters, believe it or not.

I went back to the library and to the vodafone shop today. No mention, no hassle, not even a second look at my feet really. I thought your country was supposed to be the land of the free.

What would be the point? Better to take your blood elsewhere.

If there was an urgent need of blood, like a plan crash or a pile up, I am sure the policy would go out the window. A sad state of affairs really.
