I know, she could have thought of something smart to ask me like what you suggested instead of accusing me right off. The one thing they were worried about was that I was wearing glasses yesterday, but not in my license photo. She could have just looked at the back to that it read "AY for corrective lenses" since I wear both contacts and glasses and have for many years. The other chick finally did that though.
Hah, I aint been IDed since I was about 14 buying booze.. my beard/tache grow reeally quickly, have done since I was about 12, so having a 5-oclock shadow does help convince them you're over 18 (yay England). And of course buying cigs there was never any problem, I gave up long before they bumped the age up to 18.
A friend of mine (also 17) went to the store with his Dad and his Dad got carded for beer. How cool is that.
I get carded all of the time, it gets on my nerves my 87 year old grandpa was carded at a Hockey game we went to
Yeah... those places that card everybody are ridiculous. There's a liquor store over here that's like that... I just don't go there anymore. I saw them card an old lady who looked like she was a 100 (buying a bottle of wine). She was in front of me in line and it took her a good 5 minutes to find her ID in her massive purse.
Rules are rules man. No employee wants to get fired because they didn't card someone, even if they are obviously over 21. I've noticed that some supermarkets also have to card everyone who's buying booze. They have those things that scan your ID in the registers now. That shit's just weird, I don't like them scannin' my ID.
I used to work at a grocery store. We were told to card anyone who looked younger than 30, and to card anyone shopping with the booze buyer who looked underage (whether or not we knew they would be drinking or not). I really didn't care but I had to follow the rules.
Some 20 year olds aren't smart or responsible enough to be drinking. I suggest an IQ and alcohol knowledge test given to anyone before they're allowed to purchase booze. Eliminate the whole age thing.
Yeah but let's be realistic. You're mature enough to vote 3 years before you're mature enough to drink. Fuck that.
I bet they did. They were hoping she couldn't find her ID so they could offer to take her in the back for "proof of age"...
You know, I had the same thing happen to me except I was at a craft store trying to buy beads...I take out my debit card, hand it to the woman and she asks for me ID. I gave it to her and she said "that doesn't even look like you, are you sure this is yours"...I said yeah and she looked at me, looked back at it and back at me and shook her head. She said I look waaay different and handed it back to me. I got my beads, but ugh, that was so stupid!
