    and your textbooks? and handouts?

and what about your house - you still haven't answered what your house is made out of

My point is that you're a hypocrite for claiming so hard to stand for environmentalism. On the other hand, I think people have a right to use natural resource.

You're making some pretty big assumptions there.

You guys are taking this hugely out of perspective. I love forests, I've probably spent more time in the woods than the huge majority of people here, and I certainly care about trees.

I simply don't believe, on the other hand, that nature's rights are inherently more important than people's. I'm not vandalising trees for the hell of it - this needs to be done.

chuck understands. the pleasure that comes from knocking over a big ass tree is the same that comes from blowing something up, driving a car with a lot of kick, or firing off a high-calibre rifle.

    its innate to men.

    word. :H

i was gonna say something like that, i can only imagine the pleasure one can feel when he realises that he has just destroyed something that has been around for hundreds of years. :D

but its not like they dont grow back.

yeah. i bought about a dozen quarter sticks of dynamite, but i haven't decided what to blow up yet.

edit: and by bought i mean stole

edit2: note to csis - not in a terrorist way. more like an old car, or possibly a toilet.

edit3: not a toilet in the parliament building.

Luckily I recycle :) We have a great recycling program in my department...obviously :)

Hell, I don't know...I didn't build the thing...It's made out of pine, I'm sure. We don't have cedar in my area. Pine is a softwood, it grows much faster...Cedars take a very long time to grow. Therefore, the habitat is replaced more quickly.

Why do we have the right to use natural resources? Simply because we CAN? That seems silly to me. Mother Earth doesn't belong to us. What is on this earth doesn't belong to humans. It belongs to every creature on the planet. More so to the ones that live within the trees, the lakes, the rivers. Who are we, most of us city people, to go into these creature's habitats and take them as our own? Are you THAT selfish? Are WE that selfish? I stand for environmentalism because it's important to. Someone has to...it's obvious you don't. I recycle, I bike places or walk places, I respect Mother Earth...and honor her when I get a chance. I don't destroy her by cutting down trees. I don't think I'm a hypocrite at all...I think you are severely misguided and you have that ignorant male testosterone that seems to be a disease in our society. Fucking sick-o.

lol yeh, all this environmentalist and whateverist kinda bug me...

I mean, when u think were just here on earth,... were just here, fuck knows why... we just opened our eyes one day and landed here, no idea wtf were here for, wtf is gonna happen to us... when youre in this situation, which is the situation were ALL in... its kinda awkward to restrict yourself from doing things, because you have the goal in your mind to respect the environment. this kinda action is as egocentric as the guy who doesnt wanna do it. the universe is vast, and resctricing yourself like this is idiotic.

Certitude is unexistant... cause there is no phenomenon that has a closed gap... Nothing is right, nothing is wrong... we just create the illusion of right and wrong with our judgement and perception. if ye decide to be an environmentalist, cool. if not, cool. what are we to say?

and for the global warmings and all those "fears" that our planet is gonna die... FUCK SAKES... how many god damn climate changes have we been through... Ice ages.. they didnt have cars back then, they didnt have all those gas emission problems... but it happened.

So if we're JUST HERE...without knowing why, does that give us the right to destroy everything in our path (which is what we do anyway)? If people like me don't care about the environment, we're all gonna die. Bottom line...when we don't have clean air to breathe, when we don't have clean water to drink, when we're having kids with three limbs and one eye, when we're swimming in garbage, you people are gonna be whining and crying that people like me didn't do something to prevent it. So what am I doing? Going to school to learn how to prevent it...and then I'll make your lives a living hell sticking up for it and trying to get you to see it my way.

Maybe you should all educate yourselves about environmental issues and then argue against me...because once you learn the facts, it's hard to deny that there is a developing problem

I suppose you people are the same ones that think global warming is just "cyclic".

Does it really matter how long trees take to grow? When in the end they will grow anyway?

Whining about it on the internet isn't going to stop the hundreds of corporations that are profiting off of the destruction and use of these resources. Brad/spooner is hardly a needle in the hay.

I just noticed you added this...LOL...people are so funny.

Sure we've had climatic changes...but not at the rate it is happening right now. Look at the statistics from the past compared to today...the climate is changing at the most rapid rate ever seen in world history...that's not an accident...or a coincidence. It's because of what humans are doing to our environment.

because some species of animals cannot live in small trees, they must live in larger trees. When you cut all these large trees that are thousands of years old down...it will take another thousand years for that tree to really be replaced (I really hate repeating myself)...therefore, there are no habitats for these species of animals.

I was whining? No. I was stating facts. That's why it's our responsibility as consumers to know what we're buying and not buy from companies that damage or destroy our natural environment. Brad/spooner is part of the problem. Not just for cutting down trees himself, but having the attitude that he does. It's an epidemic in our society...apathy and anthropormorphism.

Now that's not hypocritical at all...

Wow, that didn't make you sound conceited. Really.

I think only the U.S. government believes that global warming is a conspiracy theory. Believe it or not, people who are not the same as you also know that its going on ;)

I take it your parents paid for all of your college education?

I don't these comments made me sound any way, at all. In fact, I just know the facts about these issues. And I said, once you know the facts, you can't deny it.

Actually, if you read what stebo added to his post after I quoted it, he did claim it was cyclic...funny I called it before he wrote it LOL.

    Actually they haven't. Try again.

You have a point, with which I agree, but come on. There are people suffering all around the world, living in slavery, dealing with poverty, dealing with war. Why the heck are you going to college if you believe animals are more important than humans? Why aren't you living in a forest right now?

Just because you were stating facts doesn't mean you weren't whining. Whiners can state facts while whining.
Some people don't live in "hippie" places with "hippie" shops and therefore have no choice but to buy from mega bad companies.
You sound like you should be posting at the yuppie forums... just my opinion

My answer to this , is just a simple yes. in the situation you described, our rights are unlimited. let me ask you... why is it bad to destroy everything in our path? ... animals will die?... we'll die? ... trees'll die?... once again, there is no certitude towards what this will create... and death is just something highly feared and that we've given a certain image throughout the years, but really, no one knows. (although, i have gained different opinions and perceptions, i have to agree, those which i have gained, are pretty pro-environmentalist, and similar to your thoughts, people who destroy earth always do it for wrong reasons anyways, for self-pleasure, economic reasons, and egocentric selves. although, the reason why i am writing all of this, is because no one can have an idea stuck in its head like this, we cant reject people's thoughts, you always gotta keep an openmind, cuz there is NOTHING certain in life, and to restrict your mind, is just your own loss.)

    defenitely.
    here i agree 100%.

ahh come on, that was uncalled for :( ... seems like someone's got no room in their mind for different opinions. Closed.

yes i agree, some people don't know enough concerning the subject. and there is a developing problem... but there have been climate changes for a LONG TIME. i'd be more afraid if there werent.

No, they made you sound as though you are really full of yourself.
I once was a "knower of the facts"... I figured all people would lose that childish "oh I know more therefore I am better than you" part of themselves by the time they got out of high school, but I guess not.

    ;)

lol but dancerannie, yea of course, animals are loveable, its cool to have the idea of saving them by respecting the environment, i mean... its cute. yea.

but what do they do? they go and eat plants, eat other animals... ooooh, if a human did that i bet the hell youd give him lots of bashing...

were all here for survival man... and if ye wanna help save animals who do what you hate. but only when a human does it, you regard it as something "wrong".
well... i am shocked, and appauled.

in this situation, the person acting the most superior is "you", and oddly ... you hate humans who act superior by claiming the environment as their own... man , never did ye think it'd happen, youre what you fear the most!... i wonder how ud take it if a clan of lions came in your neihbourhood with signs saying "respect the humans... dont destroy their house"... itd hurt your ego, and youd feel inferior. (by the way, situation completely out of the ordinary, please do not take it as if it will happen... but it will, trust me :))
