i want to join a commune, any still around?

I never grew up in a hippie family I wasn't a flower child , but Yall make me want to start / join a commune. At least what yall describe as a commune is something I ve pondered time and time again. Why cant I just have a piece of land and live off it Reminds me of the the old western movies . Where people barterd there skills and fresh goods . What a way to live.
